I bought an HP 1200d Printer in April of this year. I chose this printer because the reviews I had read were excellent and I wanted a printer with seperate ink cartridges that were quock and were in my privce range. This printer met all 3 conditions.
The print speed of text is very very quick, colour printing is quick but photos are fairly slow however the quaality is excellent. The printer has a built in duplex facility.
The 1200d is a little bigger than most ink jets, at 8.3in by 19.9in by 18.3in (HWD). The ink cartridges are separate from the print heads, so you have to install four of each also there are 4 seperate print heads to deal with. HP says each cartridge can manage 1,750 pages. The beauty of seperate cartridges is that if the Cyan runs out you just change the cyan you do not loose the remainder of teh other colours.
The black print head can do approx 16,000 pages, and each color print head around 24,000 pages.
Two other important touches are a duplexer and a 6,250-page-per-month duty cycle. The 150-page input capacity is low, but adequate.
Output quality is fantastic rpobably the best I have seen from an ink jet printer. Text quality is excellent even with small fonts. Photos are very goodthough slow to print, graphics at the high end of good but there is slight banding when printing in normal quality.
In a nutshell and in my opinion the 1200d is Fast, quality is great for text and graphics, ink cartridges are cheap compared to normal hp cartridges. The tray where the prints are stored is a little flimsy but other than that this is an excellent all round printer suitable for home use or a small office.
