Having heard of all the tales that these were hard to fit and get running we still decided that it would be worth getting one.
With 3 children in the house all liking the same type of music and all wanting the cd at the same time life was sometimes awkward. So this would be a great way to settle things.
The instructions were easy. Put in the spare drive bay. And thats it basically!
This writer is a 10 x write, 32 x cd rom and 8 x rewrite which means you can literally copy most things.
You then install the software. It will tell you everything from when to put the disc in that you want copied, close door, and put blank in and press start.
It then works or should do.
In most cases it does.
In mine no because I am a cheapscape! I looked around for bargain cd discs didnt I.
So when it came to putting the blank disc in, I put it in but it denied that I had done it. To cut a story short for you, I tried cleaning the cds, both the one to copy and the one being copied, uninstalled and installed again. Wrote and asked hp what to do even.
Finally I found out what was wrong. Some cds it wont take as they are too transparant. The cheap, money saving ones I got were. Got some other ones and no problem at all.
So dont buy cheap it doesnt always pay as I found out.
As for the copying that is quick and perfect. Although you dont have to be silent be sensible and dont do stupid things (okay I did this too) and let your dog bark right next to it while recording. You dont hear the barking but it did vibrate which ruinned the copy!
