...When I first started to use the 8200 I was not sure about it as it would not have been my first choice. I say this as this CD-Writer is not the fastest on the market or in the HP Range. However it is used at work so I can't complain. Having used the CD-Writer I must say I am quite impressed with it. Although the speed is not what I would like, it is only 4x write and re-write, it is a very reliable peice of kit. Other CD-Writers that I have used have chewed up CD's and given errors when writing, so making the CD useless. The HP 8200 as with other HP CD-Writers comes in two forms, an internal (You can tell by having an i after the number, e.g. 8200i) and an external (Similar to internal but e on the end of a number, e.g. 8200e). With this you get packages the normal HP Software, Adaptec Direct CD and Easy CD Creator, both of which... Read review

HP make burning CDs Easy Peasy
Review of HP CD-Writer Plus 9150i by hpcs7350

Advantages: Ease of installation and use, reasonable price
Disadvantages: IDE connection is lower than SCSI

...I had been umming and aahing about buying a CD-RW for some time and I finally settled on the HP 9150i, mainly because of the very reasonable price, but also because it seemed a lot easier to fit and install than a SCSI model. HP really couldn't have made it easier. They provide a CD which not only plays you a video to follow, but also checks your computer to tell you what jumper settings and IDE cable to use for the best results. Whilst looking into different CD-RWs, I was told time and time again that the software for copying CDs was as important as the hardware itself. The HP 9150i's software is very intuitive to use with excellent results when both copying a whole CD and making a compilation fom many CDs. There is a update which is downloadable from the web (5MB, so do it at the weekend!) which adds a few more features... Read review

...My Compaq Armada 1700 came courtesy of the insurance company after my old Twinhead was stolen. The difference is phenomenal and I thank the thief! I might only have 32MB of Ram but for someone like myself who uses it for the odd letter, the updating of a few statistics and mainly surfing the web it seems plenty powerful enough. The only downside is that my CD Rom drive appears to have broken after a few months but it seems like just a loose connection. The computer seemed a trifle large initially, but it is certainly a sturdy number and I would happily recommend to anyone.... Read review
