HP Color LaserJet CP1215 > Reviews (2)

I have owned two HP color laser printers in the past 6 years, a 1500L which lasted a very long time, however was ponderously slow, and the consumable price for that obsolete model was too outrageous to replace the cartridges. I replaced that with a CP1515n (is the same as the CP1215) and for 1 year and 1 day had excellent print results. The quality and registration were superb, and the speed reasonable for a home office. However after that it stopped working. No error code and no help from HP. They basically laughed at my misfortune and said buy another. Err - no thanks guys, you don’t know what the problem is, it costs more to fix than buying a new printer and your attitude is terrible. Having taken the printer apart to attempt a self repair, and failing, trailing endless forums, and writing code to interrogate the state of the machine, my opinion is that HP quality has declined seriously. The machine appears to be built to a price, and the quality of components and hence expected lifetime is low. This seems to be backed up my similar opinion among others on the net. Additionally the consumable cost is very high, and given that these models are soon to be obsolete and that the replacements used different cartridges, then replacement costs are likely to be very high in short order. I would not recommend this product.
