I recently bought this computer for myself and my family to use to access the internet and for my coursework at college. I needed a replacement for my now ancient 700 Mhz 64mb of RAM. This has more like the power of the game boy in comparison to modern day machines. As a student I was amazed at the price that it was going for as it was a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with 256 Mb RAM. This is powerful, and the comparison has been amazing. The computer also has 40Gb storage space which quadruples my current computer. I can fit so much more media on my computer than ever before! Amazing really!!
The computer comes with a DVD-ROM drive which means you don't need a DVD player, all your DVD's can be played through your computer. You can even hook up your television to your computer at little expense to create the ultimate DVD experience. Don't worry this will also read normal discs as well, not just DVD's but CD-R's. The computer has a floppy drive which may not mean much anymore, due to most being cut out of modern systems. However for me it is perfect for transferring college work on to the college network. It comes with Microsoft XP professional, the current and most efficient operating system around in my opinion. The 3 years warranty is also a sure bet, even if the system turs faulty you get free servicing for 3 years. The system at 16.7 cm x 45.2 cm x 44.8 cm is also certainly a mini-tower, it can fit into the most awkward spaces. Trust me my house is compact at the best of times, never mind a brand new computer.
The machine is completely ready for use on the internet and can deal perfectly with the pressures of broadband and downloading large amounts of data. I have been downloading since the day I bought it and have still found no change in its everyday running. It is therefore perfect for both use at home and in a business environment.
When you buy the machine you receive a free copy of HP Client Manager which is a web-based tool and lets you inventory hardware, monitory system health and upload drivers. A very useful tool at all times.
BEWARE: This is a stand alone desktop machine. It does not come with a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, or any other hardware. As such it is best for those wanting to upgrade (me) or those piecing together their own system.
An excellent system for the price. I would recommend this to all PC users. At lowest prices of £400 (see Ciao) this really is the future of lower price desktop PC's.
Advantages: Fairly good spec for price, good room for updating in the future Disadvantages: Deceptive price -many peripherals not included. Also apart from processor spec not amazing
A friend from work recently purchased this PC, due to its low cost and fast speed, however after buying the PC was very disappointed. At first glance this seems like a great buy, however the fast processor is really the only high spec. component of the PC, and this may trick potential buyers into believing that it maintains that standard in all aspects.
Lack of monitor, poor graphics card, low amount of RAM, below par sound system and general absence ... ...mean that much more money would have to be spent to make this PC usable by a home or inexperienced buyer. Overall this means they would probably be better buying a complete PC for a few hundred more. However the PC isn't all bad -to a user upgrading their previous PC this may be useful as you already own all the missing equipment and any of the lower specs could be upgraded with your own hardware, as a plus side to this PC is that there is plenty ...

Advantages: easily upgradable. Disadvantages: low specs (except for processor)
Its a great computer for work, its got plenty of ram and probably enough hard disk space. If you are wanting to play games on it however, it has no where near the right amount of ram or disk space. It would be too slow for a lot of graphic design work as well. If you are wanting a gaming machine, I suggest you look elsewhere as this won't really be up to it even with upgrades. If you want to do typing and graphic design, you might find it beneficial ...

Well, HP have moved on to computers now. Even though they only make 0.08% profit on each machine (compared to Dell's 8%) they still reamin true to their cause. As this is a HP machine the case is at a high standard and the optical and floppy drives match the colour of the case. The specs are just OK and the PC could be used for gameing, but not next gen. I think it would struggle with things like Farcry, but the P4 is a nice touch, though some would ...

Advantages: Top of the Intelligent line Disadvantages: Not top of the world
...write the review about this HP Compaq Buisness Desktop D530 is mainly the Computer itself.
Here we have a very expencive PC (buisness class) at a high as well price. What, but, what do we want the computer to be ?
If I was discussing with Charlton Heston we would very well know deep in our hearts that the computer should have a processor with 100 inlet and outletter legs.
The Computer should also do everything that we needed it to do for us ,logicaly, constably, reliably ... ...1000nd legged processor what would the diference be ,then ?
-It could be able to work extra utilities, ten windows for example.
-Other ?
-Lots of others. It could have the ease to store the Corel in one single bit and this to be part of its Linux or Windows or whatever, running program.
How would you name it ?
- I don't exactly know ,I just want it to run in metric system ,to have one cd-rom of course,to have an innexpencive home-cinema,the dvd,If ...

Advantages: Great name and good support Disadvantages: poor build quality, flimsy
...The Compaq line of small form factor PCs have always been sturdy machines very suited to the business environment.
Compaq used to take care to design a machine without the frills, which would meet most standard business use. Costs were also kept low, and this made for a generally acceptable business unit. The D5xx range has never been targeted at the home user, and probably never will.
Unfortunately, this new machine fails to inspire confidence. Overall, there is nothing wrong with the technologies and speed of the unit. My real issues are around the casing and build quality.
Firstly, it is REALLY heavy. I suppose some may say this is an theft deterrent, but there is no real need for the weight.
This is especially true when you notice that the case is extremely light and flimsy. In a business environment, machines need to be...

Advantages: A all around pc. great buy if you can find it for cheap. Disadvantages: No space to fit 2 drives in. cannot fit AGP graphics Card in (no room), only PCI graphics card.
...This is my first time ever upgrading my computer and i chose this. i brought this 1 for £200 i dont know why shops are selling it for £900 it's not worth that much.
this pc is able to play sims 2 ( just to give you exsample of what it can do), the only thing you need to do with this computer is to upgrade the ram, it's way too small and upgrade the drive. not much programs use CD rom these days.
it has 2 usb slots in the front and 4 in the back, it has in built speaker. ethernet connection too. mine came with a stand so i can put it on it's side. i dont know if the one you buy online provide stands. for that price they should provide stands.
here are specs of computer:
Form Factor Desktop Slimline
Processor Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Installed Memory 256 MB (DDR SDRAM)
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP...

Advantages: Cool Case (Didn't I See That In Toys R Us The Other Day???), Cool Specs Disadvantages: Intergrated Graphics = BAD BAD BAD
...First Impresions:
Nice Case
P4 = Good (but Athlon XP better)
Medium Specs
Can Play Games
Nice Ammount Of Ram
Won't fall apart on you
The case is almost exactly like that of the other HP macine. It would look good, as HP are behind it. I don't know why they bother really, they only make 0.08% profit on every machine sold.
The specs are that of a medium PC. The 512mg ram is a nice touch and will open up many games, and a fast load time in games like Enemy Territory. Now, the nicest bit is S-ATA, so if you care to update your hard drive buy the 2 Raptors (10000rpm, S-ATA) and put them into Raid 0 (for more info on raid see any decent PC site).
Onboard grahics bring what could have been a very good machine crashing down to the state of good. However, there is suppost to be a 8x AGP slot, so you can override the rubbish...
