I recently bought this computer for myself and my family to use to access the internet and for my coursework at college. I needed a replacement for my now ancient 700 Mhz 64mb of RAM. This has more like the power of the game boy in comparison to modern day machines. As a student I was amazed at the price that it was going for as it was a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with 256 Mb RAM. This is powerful, and the comparison has been amazing. The computer also has 40Gb storage space which quadruples my current computer. I can fit so much more media on my computer than ever before! Amazing really!!
The computer comes with a DVD-ROM drive which means you don't need a DVD player, all your DVD's can be played through your computer. You can even hook up your television to your computer at little expense to create the ultimate DVD experience. Don't worry this will also read normal discs as well, not just DVD's but CD-R's. The computer has a floppy drive which may not mean much anymore, due to most being cut out of modern systems. However for me it is perfect for transferring college work on to the college network. It comes with Microsoft XP professional, the current and most efficient operating system around in my opinion. The 3 years warranty is also a sure bet, even if the system turs faulty you get free servicing for 3 years. The system at 16.7 cm x 45.2 cm x 44.8 cm is also certainly a mini-tower, it can fit into the most awkward spaces. Trust me my house is compact at the best of times, never mind a brand new computer.
The machine is completely ready for use on the internet and can deal perfectly with the pressures of broadband and downloading large amounts of data. I have been downloading since the day I bought it and have still found no change in its everyday running. It is therefore perfect for both use at home and in a business environment.
When you buy the machine you receive a free copy of HP Client Manager which is a web-based tool and lets you inventory hardware, monitory system health and upload drivers. A very useful tool at all times.
BEWARE: This is a stand alone desktop machine. It does not come with a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, or any other hardware. As such it is best for those wanting to upgrade (me) or those piecing together their own system.
An excellent system for the price. I would recommend this to all PC users. At lowest prices of £400 (see Ciao) this really is the future of lower price desktop PC's.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
256 Mb - too small, 40Gb....not enough for the average game these days....Compaq - wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Hey sorry about that, i thought Ciao had found an amazing site selling it cheaply. I got mine from an independant PC retailers in Newport. Cost me about £360. It was a deal where I traded in my old computer for that one. My old computer was worth very little though so I probably bought it for £430. Sorry about that. I have amended my review.
Advantages: Fairly good spec for price, good room for updating in the future Disadvantages: Deceptive price -many peripherals not included. Also apart from processor spec not amazing
Advantages: A all around pc. great buy if you can find it for cheap. Disadvantages: No space to fit 2 drives in. cannot fit AGP graphics Card in (no room), only PCI graphics card.
