HP Compaq Business Desktop Dc5800 ******************************************* HP has a largest share in personal computers market especially in workstations and desktop PCs. The most demanded workstations are also from the treasure of HP. I am changing my tune of reviews here and tell you about this desktop PC in two forms, one will remain as facts and next one will be experience and opinions.
The facts ********* This desktop PC is designed for your routine daily job and it will help in all important applications with its good processing speed and other advanced features. If we have a look on its processor than there is a excellent multicore processor with good combination of Ram and graphics memory. PC has Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 with total click speed of 3 GHz. The main considerable features of this processor are its excellent clock speed with cache memory and front side data bus speed. There is about 6 MB of L2 cache size and 1333 MHz of bus speed. We have seen that AMD processors have best data bus speed with more than 1333 MHz, but they have less cache memory with compare to Intel processor. Both have some advantages in its field as higher bus speed processors are not recommended in hot climatic conditions and they are best in cold areas. Now the next point is its memory size and there is a good preinstalled RAM with DDR2 SDRAM. 2GB is slightly less for this processor but overall this is a good combination. If you want higher performance than upgrade it to 4 GB as this computer support maximum of 8 GB RAM with 4 slots, per slot can be installed with 2 GB max RAM module. RAM speed is about 800 MHz but is very less with compare to data bus speed of processor. Internal storage is 160 GB, with one preinstalled hard disk drive. Graphics memory is lightly old aged with Intel GMA 3100 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 4.0 and there is about 256 MB of shared memory with RAM.
My experience and opinions ****************************** I like this PC for some reasons but I also don't like this as some other reasons. Let's have some good point of my choice. This computer has comparatively light weight and that is suitable if I want to move it for other locations. I always require heavy processor my heavy graphics work so that multicore processor with fast clock speed is my requirement. This computer is giving me these all features. I had some problems with this PC in using 3ds max and it is all due to graphics memory and slower RAM. When I upgraded it to 4 GB than also problems persists. The main solution of this problem was its graphics memory and there was no option except installing PCI express graphics card with dedicated memory. I don't think that generally available graphics card is suitable for 3D applications, so have some better graphics card with dedicated memory. Overall this computer become perfect after upgrading with some other hardware's like higher RAM and dedicated memory graphics card. You can try it with having some up-gradation as per your requirements.
