If we have a look on our own office then we will find that some electronics like printers and computers may be from HP brand. Here I am going to discuss a latest Personal Computer launched by HP, and all its important components with performance and advantages. There may be some disadvantages also as we can’t find a perfect product as all.

What are the basic factors which we consider before buying any Personal computers? First we have to think about the scope of work, means our purpose of buying such a product. There are two basic scopes of works which we mainly target for our requirement and purchase of a product, first one is for our personal use at home and second one is our business use in office. Both are very important points for buying a better computer. If we thing fist and most popular requirement as using at home, than generally we need a computer for entertaining purpose like playing games, watching movies and working with some basic applications. For home purpose, we have different kinds of choice, like we need better graphics memory for playing latest and heavy games or we require good processor and random access memory for working with some latest applications. If we combine all our basic requirement for home use, then we will find that there are lots of requirements and all are depends on our uses. So it will be decided according to our requirements at home. Second purpose of buying computer is for office use and it is very important and most considerable point for purchasing a better product. Office computer is more important than home computer as we spent maximum time as a working in office. So for purchasing a office computer, we have to prepare our scope of work first. Usually we works on some applications in office and it may be some advanced applications, and also may be regular applications. We can’t play games in office so that there is no factor of having good computer for gaming purpose like wide screen feature with good sound system. So at the most of time we need perfect computer will all aspects like good processing speed, good RAM, and most important feature is graphics memory. All other features are depends on our scope of work in office.

Generally we think some basic features before buying any personal or business computer, and these features are Processor, RAM and storage capacity. We are missing some advanced features like Graphics memory, cache memory and DATA bus speed. So don’t forget to have a deep attention on these factors also.

How is Processing Speed?

Having a look on processor

There are no doubts that we need good processing speed with every computing machine and it depends on some good combination of Processor, Ram and graphics memory. SO coming to this computer, HP has provided some advanced processor from Intel quad core family and that is Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. Now one point about processing cores is clear that this processor has almost four processing cores so that we can use some advanced applications with multi task use with this processor also. Other important feature of this processor is its fast core speed with about 2.83 GHz. So there is no doubt that we can use some advanced multi task operations with this processor. I also want to mention here that Windows Vista requires at least 2 GHz speed processor for smooth running of PC, and we can’t run Vista so smoothly with single core processors. Single core technology it now out dated and it has gone with Windows XP. We know that Windows Vista is not such a popular operating system like Windows XP and if you are using Windows XP than you can consider single core processor but you can’t run advanced applications with so smoothly. Microsoft is facing some trouble to getting Vista popular in consumer market as it is completely failed to get such popularity like Windows XP. Now we are waiting next operating System called as Windows 7, and it is likely to be more users friendly and will fulfill our entire requirement which Vista failed to provide.

Coming to the point about this processor, we have to discuss its front side data bus speed also. There is no doubt that this processor has advanced and fast data bus speed with 1333 MHz of front side data bus speed. If we have a look on some DDR3 technology memory then we find that 1333 MHz of speed is normal for those aspects, but here we are using or HP has provided DDR2 RAM which I will discuss latter on memory part and 1333 MHz of FSB speed is such a good or best solution they have provided.

Opinion on cache memory

Coming to its cache memory, which is a more important feature for processing speed, and cache memory generally hold some data before processing so it gives less burden to processor and it will run smoothly with the help of cache memory. Generally we give lots of commands for processing but at the same time we need adequate task to process. If processor gets lots of commands to process and it has limited capacity to handle all these at single time, then it will get hanged and all processing operations will be freeze. So cache memory is very important to handle all pending operations and it will provide every task to processor as per requirements and on time. This processor has excellent 12 MB of cache memory and such a huge capacity memory is only available with multi core processors only. Some dual core processors also have such a good capacity cache memory and they are good choice for medium business use. If we have a look on some old processors like most popular models with Intel Pentium 4 processors, then we will find that they have maximum 4 Mb of cache memory. But then the time was different and all popular applications were available with according to those configurations only. But we were facing more trouble with almost all 3 D applications like 3D studio Max, Autodesk MAYA and some other 3D applications as they need advanced processing speed with some good capacity of graphics memory and it was very difficult to find such a good configuration for these applications. Now the situation has been changed and we have some advanced technology as per applications requirement and performance.

Memory Capacity and Requirement

Opinion About the Random Access Memory

Memory capacity has various factors in computer aspects, like most important Random Access memory, parallel important graphics memory, storage capacity (it depends on our requirement of storage) and already discussed cache memory.
Now coming to the first point in memory capacity and that is Random access memory. Random access memory is generally called as RAM, and it is a temporary memory for computing process. RAM holds all processed task before saving it in permanent memory. So there are many factors for having a good Ram in terms of its capacity and speed also. Having a look on the RAM of this business machine, it is slightly disappointing that HP has given a good capacity but slightly old dated technology RAM. Computer has 4 GB of preinstalled DDR2 SDRAM with 800 MHz of total speed support. If we have a look on its installed processor that it has 1333 MHz of front sided data bus speed, and for best combination with this processor we need similar kind of speed in RAM also. Generally this types of speed is available in DDR3 technology RAMs. So this computer has good capacity of preinstalled RAM with an average capacity of speed but it is slightly disapproving factor that we are missing DDR3 technology in terms of RAM. But this is not a big point as we can easily install DDR3 Ram with this system as our level. But it is not recommended to install RAM as our level because we have warranty also with this machine and it will be better to ask HP for DDR3 RAM.
Memory in terms of storage capacity is not such an important factor but I want to mention this also as it has 500 GB of total capacity serial ATA hard disk drive with regular 7200 rpm speed.

Opinion on Most Important, Graphics Memory

Now coming to the most important memory and this is a Graphics Memory. There is no meaning of having advanced technology processors, advanced RAM and all other features without having good graphics memory. Graphics memory also depends as per our requirements. If we are considering to buy a computer for gaming purpose then we need regular graphics memory like NVIDIA GT series of graphics cards. The best graphics card for gaming purpose is NVIDIA GT 8800 and it has superb performance with all latest games but if we think this graphics card for some advanced 3D applications then it will failed to provide good or adequate performance. So we need some advanced graphics card for 3D applications and having a look on this system, it has superb graphics card with most advanced quadro series graphics card, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 with total 256 MB of graphics memory. Quadro series graphics card are generally considered for advanced 3D applications and it is recommended for rendering and animations process.

Performance with some applications

After having a deep discussion with all important features, I want to mention its performance with some applications also. This machine has superb performance with almost all regular applications like Adobe Photoshop CS3, Microsoft Office 2007, CorelDraw x4 etc. Now the important point is its performance about some 3D applications. We know those quadro series graphics cards are generally dominated for 3D applications only and there is no doubt that this computer also has such a graphics memory so that it will be better choice for 3D applications also. Tested with some popular applications like Autodesk AutoCAD 2009, 3ds max 2009(design Suit) and Google sketch-up also. It has superb performance with Google sketch-up, AutoCAD and good performance with 3ds max. I don’t have MAYA application so that I am unable to get performance with MAYA, but I can say that this machine need some upgrade to make it perfect for such applications. The upgraded should be in terms of Ram, as we need DDR3 RAM with some more capacity and graphics memory is perfect for these applications. We can make slightly upgrade in terms of graphics memory capacity as it has preinstalled 256 MB and we can go even better with 512 MB.
Overall this is a perfect choice for business and office use with some advanced technology and features. Recommended.
