This is another notebook from the HP Compaq range that isn’t quite as small as their other ones. Yet still has enough portability for it to be called a notebook. Its basically a mini laptop that runs on windows vista so it lets you do anything you would normally do, in places you wouldn’t normally be able to do them with a full sized PC or laptop.
One of the greatest things about this notebook is that the keyboard is actually full sized. If you’ve ever been on an Eee PC for a while you’ll know that it can get a bit frustrating after a while of typing. However with this particular model the keypad is spread out right across the length of the notebook meaning they have actually been able to make a full sized keypad out of it. This basically means you’ll be able to type just as well as you would on any normal keyboard, and this is important when this could be something that your doing a lot of your work on.
Usually these things have a lack of memory, however this one doesn’t at all. Its 2gb installed ram means this thing runs like a dream and installing and running programs was really fast too. Also the capability to upgrade to a possible 8gb of ram is there. I’m not too sure if this would do it that much good though as the Intel Core 2 DuoT5870 processor probably couldn’t cope with it so you’d probably be better loading it to 4gb of ram at the most.
The size is not much over a length of A4 paper at just 33 cm‘s. So it’s a fair bit bigger than some of the notebooks out there however only weighing 2.4 kg your hardly going to feel this thing even if your going to be carrying it around with you all day.
Another great thing about this is the sheer size of the storage space inside. The Eee PC hardly had any on the basic model and so carrying about a spare memory stick was pretty much essential. This Hp Business Compaq will certainly not require any more space though as its got a impressive 160 gb already built in. The small size of the notebook isn’t sacrificing speeds either as it will still reach 5400 rpm, the average of the normal sized laptops too.
The screen size isn’t that small either, so its not limiting your workability. It offers a 14.1 TFT display and is a good quality screen with a good 1280 x 800 resolution.
The only thing that let down some of HP’s other notebooks was the battery life, however this one doesn’t at all. It offers a fantastic 6.25 hours which is well up there with some of the best on the market today, and at price of arounf £700- £800 its well cheaper than the other notebooks as well.
