This HP Compaq laptop combines power with a good design and other great features to give you this fantastic business laptop. The laptop is Compaq’s Business Notebook 6715b, which you can probably guess from the name is designed and specifically made for business people, and so therefore comes with vindows vista business already in installed on it, this offers some extra features and programs compared to the other vistas and comes with Intervideo WinDVD, HP Quick Launch Button Software, HP ProtectTools Security Manager, HP Wireless Assistant, Synaptics Touchpad Driver, HP Backup and Recovery Manager, Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, HP OpenView Radia Management Agent, HP QuickLook.
The design is really good too. It is all in one colour, which is usually something that puts me off laptops, however this all black laptop has a cool square like shape to it and I think it makes the laptop look really modern. The edge around the screen isn’t huge and is quite thin making this laptop look better and also reducing its size.
Now this really is a fast running laptop, and really it needs to be if you need to do a lot of work on a laptop. This has 2 gb of ram installed on it which makes all those demanding programs and software run like a dream. And if the 2 gb isn't enough for you (although I cant see this amount ever not being big enough for you), then you can easily upgrade your ram to 4gb. This will just make everything even faster than it already is, so if you so really need your laptop to be a bit faster then you have got this option at a later date. This is really good because what tends to happen is that as your laptop gets older, and your add more programs and files, it eventually gets slower and slower, this is just something that happens, so having this extra 2gb of ram available to be installed into the laptop means that if it does start to run slower than you want it to, then you can easily have extra ram installed. A bad thing about this option though, is that it can be costly to do, especially if you cant do it your self and you might have to pay a computer technician to do the work for you. Also a bit of a glitch is that it could, and I do say could, void the warranty, now I am unsure about the warranty of this specific laptop however it usually goes, if you alter any setting of the laptop by unscrewing things inside of it, then usually the warranty goes, as if it no longer works it could be your fault. So this is something to think about and look into before you start altering things inside the laptop.
Now the hard drive is above average too, as it has a fantastic 160 gb’s for you to store all that data onto. Now I know that ill never need more than 160 gb and iv never even really needed more than 100gb’s before, so I doubt that anyone will really need more storage space than this.
Its screen is average size too, it’s a 15.4 inch TFT screen which is about the average size. However most business laptops have smaller screens that this so that they are more portable because they would be smaller, and also they would be lighter and have more battery life. This laptop actually weighs 2.7 kg though, which isn’t really heavy, but is a lot heavier than most business laptops are. that’s why this laptops probably best to be used as a replacement desktop and is just as fast as one too.
This laptop also has a built in memory card reader, this is great and can read any of SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card. This saves time and money if you were to buy one, as well as saving space and an usb port too in using one.
Altogether this is a great laptop, its designed for business men and that’s who it suits best. Its extremely quick, it looks good and its got all that space to save things on as well. There are so much things that’s so good about this laptop and not much wrong with it. Apart from its lack of portability, however for a price tag of under £600 for a laptop this good, I think this defiantly makes up for it as you’d be paying well over £1000 for a laptop like this with great portability as well.

I have had a few problems but they have been sorted very quickly.
The power supply was over heating so got replaced and the DVD drive was making a loud rattle.
Both times I submitted a service call on the HP site and the replacement part was at my door within 36hrs in N. Ireland with a prepaid label to return the faulty part.
Overall I would recommend this laptop and the HP service ...

Hp is a global company that has been running for over 6 decades, so you know that when you buy a hp, you know what you are getting for your money.
I have owned many HPs and been happy with many hp's and this is no exeption. The price is fantastic and it has very good specifications to match.
The 15" screen is a perfect comprimise bettween view-ability and portability, the procsessor clocks at a quick 1.9 while having ... ...can handle multiple tasks quicker, ultimately speeding up the processing time of your pc. it has an acceptable 1gb of ram which means multiple programs will run fluently.
It also has windows xp proffesional, many people thnk windows proffesional is still the best buisness o.s as it is often more simple than its Vista counterparts.
ultimatly a great buisness laptop with a price that won't burn your wallet, but good specs to get all your buisnessventures ...

Advantages: Nice laptop. Does come with an HP Brite Screen, but you have to ask. Disadvantages: Cost of replacing the transformer is very expensive. Customer service is non existent.
I ordered my HP Compaq 6715b from PC World Business on 01 Oct 07 (£708.00 incl VAT). The machine arrived at the store (CR0 postcode) three days later (04 Oct 07). Took it home and charged the laptop as advised. The next morning (05 Oct 07), the transformer wasn't working, so the battery wasn't being charged. I contacted PCW Customer Services for their advice. I was told that someone from the store would call me back within the hour. Two hours later, ... ...unlikely that the store would contact me, and would have to wait until Monday morning. Too late to drive 20 miles to the store, I decided to pack up the laptop and go the following morning (06 Oct 07) to the store. The "Tech Guys" firstly checked the machine and said the transformer was faulty and it was not covered by the warranty, so I would have to pay for a replacement (£41.99 + delivery @ £8.99 + VAT = £59.90 as there were none in the store). ...

I like the Lap top overall.
But I have been facing the following problems with the same.
I use 1400 x 1050 resolution in 32 bit mode display setting most of the time. Whenever I close and open my lap top, the display gets enlarged and only a portion of the desktop will be visible in the display window. I have to scroll around to see the whole of the desk top or I have to again switch to a different diplay setting say 1440 x 900 or some thing and then revert back to 1400 x 1050. It is frustrating some times. The Laptop uses ATI Radeon Xpress 1270 display adaptor. Any suggestions to fix this issue will be highly appreciated.Thanks

This is a neat little laptop.
Boasts everything you would ever need for a business purpous machine.
I payed well over £600.00 at the time of getting this and now it has taken a big price drop and is even more of a bargain.
Nice and fast maybe not ideal for games nice big 160GB Hardisk with DVDRW 2gbs of ram is very hard to find in laptops at the moment.
Im really chuffed with this and does everything it says on the box. sorta speak.
