I ordered my HP Compaq 6715b from PC World Business on 01 Oct 07 (£708.00 incl VAT). The machine arrived at the store (CR0 postcode) three days later (04 Oct 07). Took it home and charged the laptop as advised. The next morning (05 Oct 07), the transformer wasn't working, so the battery wasn't being charged. I contacted PCW Customer Services for their advice. I was told that someone from the store would call me back within the hour. Two hours later, I contacted PCWCS again and was told that it was unlikely that the store would contact me, and would have to wait until Monday morning. Too late to drive 20 miles to the store, I decided to pack up the laptop and go the following morning (06 Oct 07) to the store. The "Tech Guys" firstly checked the machine and said the transformer was faulty and it was not covered by the warranty, so I would have to pay for a replacement (£41.99 + delivery @ £8.99 + VAT = £59.90 as there were none in the store). Are they ####### nuts, they must be joking, right? Wrong. They were very serious. Then after about 20 minutes of being totally stressed at the way things were going, they then checked the laptop and found that it had an internal fault. I was offered a replacement, but it wouldn't arrive until Tue 09.Oct 07. I am extremely hesitant about taking possession of the new laptop, and am concerned about losing all my data. And yes I do back-up to an external HDD. I may even revert back to Dell. You will be updated either way. The moral of this story is, before you buy, make sure you know what is covered under the warranty and what isn't. It could cost you very dearly indeed. The rating for the laptop is given as good, but the cost of a replacement transformer has reduced the rating to satisfactory. Sorry.
UPDATE: Tue 05 Feb 08. The replacement arrived. Took it home, same fault. Four weeks, and three, yes three laptops later, PCW Business came to the decision that there was an inherent fault with the computer. Only then did they offer a refund. Stupidly enough, I also took out extra insurance. It took the threat of legal action from my solicitors before they refunded what they had taken. They even tried to take me to court when I cancelled the direct debit. I have now reduce their rating to poor, and have changed the recommendation to "no". How these people stay in business is totally beyond me.

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
Yet again somebody falls foul of the lousy service and extortionate prices at PC World. When will they learn??!!
You can buy a really good laptop for a lot less than this, and you can get it from a company with a much better reputation than Dixons in disguise!

A good word of warning there if i were you i'd tell the store to stick the replacement where the sun doesn't shine get your money back if you can and take your business else where.
