The main reason for choosing this model was the screen ( 1680x1050 widescreen) and it doesn't' disappoint. The resolution is way above what you usually get in this price range and is perfect for photo and video editing providing plenty of desktop space. The viewing angle is quite good and the brightness is also good although it can be difficult to see dark scenes in movies when in bright sunlight. The display is very clear and good response times.

The dual core AMD processor is great even for video rendering but is not as fast as the newer Intel chips but is more than enough for general business needs.

The hard drive is a 160GB model, mine was supplied with a Seagate SATA drive which is fast enough for general use and a decent size even for a bit of music and films though I find an external hard drive is useful for a bit of extra space.

The model I have has 2GB of DDR2 RAM which is about the standard for machines running Vista but it can easily be upgraded to 4GB but it does involve removing the keyboard but a quick search on the internet will show a step by step guide. The Graphics are quite basic by modern standards but are powerful enough for business use and the odd game, I have played GTA3 and various Command and Conquer games with out problems.

The keyboard has full size keys and feels pretty sturdy.
It is supplied with a standard DVD writer which does what it is supposed to.
The trackpad has an area to allow scrolling similar to a mouse wheel and the mouse buttons are good raised rubber type which I much prefer to the flush buttons usually found on laptops.
Good security feature including a fingerprint scanner which is very handy for logging on instead of typing a password.
2 USB sockets on each side and 1 firewire socket provide plenty of options for connecting other bits and pieces.
Built in card reader, this will not read compact flash cards but will read pretty much all the others including xD.
Handy touch sensitive volume controls, wireless and presentation keys above the keyboard.
WiFi and bluetooth both built in and the signal seems good.
The battery is pretty standard, I can get just over 3 hours internet use out of it with the backlight turned down and 1-2hours heavy use. I'm considering buying the optional high capacity battery which clips on the bottom.

This is not a pretty laptop, the design is plain and understated, exactly what you expect from a HP business laptop.

I have had a few problems but they have been sorted very quickly.

Overall I would recommend this laptop and the HP service and support.
