All things considered, HP as a company make competitively priced laptops and this is no exception. It (just) delivers what it says on the box and with budget buying you can't argue with that. But please consider whether or not you really will only require basic functions before purchasing this as many of us will find ourselves wanting to use itunes and downloaders, even when we should just be doing our invoices and databases! ...

...a no frills business machine. HP forget super stylish and instead have made a functional laptop that is durable.
The Laptop is extremely robust and built well out of thick plastics. The keyboard is sound and the laptop is designed to fit nicely on the lap.
Another great thing about this laptop is how cool it stays. Your wont be radiating your genitals to much with this machine.
SCREEN
This laptop has a screen designed for business. The test machine ... ...it isnt for playing games. HP make huge numbers of PC's for that. Instead this laptop has a cheap and cheerful intel intergrated chipset. BATTERY
The advertised 4.5 hours is okay and I suppose enough for most users. If you require transcontinental flights of use without power then this isnt the laptop for you but if you want to use it on the train in the morning then this is more than enough

Advantages: lite, durable, fast processing speeds, good for daily business use Disadvantages: RAM is low for todays business needs.
Its a core Duo processor which means its has 2x 1.6 GHz processors inside it giving you more than enough power to run even the best of 3D professional applications or soft wares. Best is the Duo technology that comprises efforts of 2 processors rather than piling all onto just one which also improves performance and keeps the actual processors cooler as they have to do less calculations between them. Two heads are better than one.
The battery time ... ...note that this means of 4.5 hours of actual usage not say if you leave the Notebook on sleep mode in between.
1 GB of RAM is very good on a business oriented Notebook and means you can be using all or most of your daily business applications all at once. A 15.4 inch TFT display means you don't have the glare of a CRT monitor but would not really suit more visual business requirements i.e graphic design or overt visual displays/presentations. ...

I bought a HP Compaq Buisness Notebook 6720 (GR647EA) from a HP partner two months ago. He gave me the Laptop without the recovery discs. I found it strange because the laptops I had used came with discs. I requested for them and he informed me that it has inbuilt back up and recovery. For two reasons - wrong configuration of keyboard and download of an update incompatible with microsoft office - I had to perform full system recovery twice. Each ... ...not miss a thing. This thrilled me because the last laptop (a different brand) I used, the full factory image/settings was not recovered when I had to format it.
It came with a trial version of microsoft office 2007 (I did not need to buy MS office for a while), a sixty subscription of Norton Virus and windows vista which can be a nuisance. But I understand that one can request for a downgrade to windows XP professional. ...
