Well firstly, i aquired an Acer laptop a while ago, which was a really good laptop, but unfortunately water was spilt on it,. and had to be replaced by the house insurance, and the model they gave me was this.
I'll give you the Basic specs first:
Its an Intel Centrino Duo It has a Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 / 2 GHz Processor 2 GB of RAM, upgradable to 4GB Variable Hard drive, mine is 160GB DVD and CD RW Drive 17'' TFT Monitor Card Reader ( SD, Multimedia etc) And stereo speakers, wireless LAN and Bluetooth. Comes with 1 year warranty.
Ok, so lets be honest, if you can pick this laptop up at a reasonable price, do it. Its really good.
The laptop is a good allrounder, it looks stylish, being "gun metal grey" and black. Even though it is a business laptop officially, and comes preloaded with Windows Vista Business, its good for home use instead or aswell.
I use the laptop mainly for Internet browsing, and Microsoft Office 2007, which may i add, came loaded on the machine, which i was very impressed with.
I use messenger often, and download music, and use office at the same time, and its never had any problems, i have equally played games on it without having any issue with being on the internet at the same time.
The wireless is great, it easily picks up networks right down the street automatically, and simply asks which one you want, as does the Bluetooth, it has a good range on it.
The Core Duo Processors run quickly, as i said before, and you can have a good few programs open.
The hard drive is more than adequate so needs no review really.
The multimedia suite is quite cool easily runs dvds, with the correct codec.
The battery life is reasonable too. around 3 hours. The Charge is done reletavely quickly too.
There are only two real downsides to it, Its slow starting up, but i wonder if this may be Vista? I will update next time i use Vista on someone elses computer. But once running, the laptop is very quick.
And secondly, it does get a little warm sometimes, but, never smells, or gets worryingly hot.
What would i like to see? a few more usb ports, and some more warranty.
So to summarise.
This is a light laptop, with a good battery life and everything you could need, it has 3 usb ports, could use a few more maybe but is adequate, it easily runs business programs, entertainment, or purely internet surfing, its durable, and well worth the money,
Should you buy it? Yes. The rating, 5! Definately.
