The HP4200 is in the "compact" category of laptops. It is a pretty conventional Windows-based machine that benefits from light weight. The downside is that the DVD drive is external and that adds to the load that needs to be carried.
Mine has the additional "travel battery" and this extends battery life to about 6 hours but at the expense of extra weight. I have also upgraded the memory to 2Gb to accomodate one application that I use regularly.
The screen is OK but not exceptional and setting up the shared memory to provide extra resolution is not straightforward.
The HP docking station is excellent and provides extra, powered USB ports.
The machine seems well built and I have had no problems with it other than a tendancy for the wireless adapter to "freeze" when working on battery power. The touchpad mouse is a pain and should be disabled...
