...I purchased a HPDvd1040i 20X Multiformat DVDWriter for my home PC back at the end of 2009, having only paid £30 for the drive at the time (I believe they are £20ish now) I wasnt expecting much, However -
I have had absolutely no problems with this drive, it was very easy to install and required no setup what so ever once booted up.
There is not much else you can say about a DVD drive aside from the fact that it is very reliable, reads and burns at a decent speed and is still working fine now (15 months down the line).
The drive itself is a very reasonable price and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a solid reliable drive for their PC....

Advantages: Cheap and reliable. Disadvantages: Not the fastest drive on the market
...I bought this CD Writer on the recommendation of a friend who had also recently purchased one. I got mine from Stak Trading’s web site (www.staktrading.com) for the bargain price of £69.32 including VAT and Delivery! I think the RRP is something like £150, or at least, it was, this model has probably been superseded by a newer model, hence the low price. I’m not sure exactly how long this piece of kit has been around, but I would guess at around a year. However, for what you get it is impossible to fault.
The minimum system requirements stated by Hewlett Packard are:

35 Megs of hard drive space for software installation.
What you get:
1 CD Writer (!) + screws.
1 IDE cable (just in case you need one)
1 Blank 74min CD-R
1 Installation CD...

Advantages: Very easy to use Disadvantages: I can't think of any
...A brilliant piece of kit.Very easy to use. Transferring videos to Dvd a doddle. The software takes you though each step. You can add music and titles giving the end result a professional finish editing as you go. Video's that do not need editing can be left to transfer unattended. The time to transfer is the length of the video and nearly the same time to transfer to disk but the results are worth the wait. Each frame of the film can be viewed independently and if you wish a print can be printed or the frame can be kept for editing in most photographic packages. You can also use it as and external dvdwriter for any transfer of files, pictures etc.The only down side really is the price but if this is the type of thing you require the price is of no concern as the results are excellent. You do need a usb2 port....
