Advantages Low cost.
Disadvantages Serious banding problems, heavy coverage issues.
Not a good printer for production. Has a real problem with banding. Heavy coverage areas the printer will have a tendency of extreme banding and ink fade. The high speed rating that the printer is spec'd for is not possible because the printer bands unacceptably when turned to that speed (360 dpi 4 pass). We have to run it at the 720dpi 8 pass mode -- which basically takes the printer 8-9 hours to print a 150' x 48" roll. The take up reel is often temperamental and we end up taping the spools to the reels, otherwise it slips and doesn't wind up -- leaving your entire print job on the floor stuck together in one giant worthless mess that all has to go in the trash (costing you up to $500 when that happens). Very disappointed with this product's performance overall. The positive side: HP is very good about service, and have had very few issues with reliability. Works great if you're not putting down much coverage.
