    We were attracted to this printer as it was fairly inexpensive and recommended to us by a colleague. We have since been very disappointed by its temperamental behaviour and would not consider buying another printer from the company. The ink is very hard to change and the black and colour cartridges cannot be installed simultaneously. The printer is slow even when set for fast printing and the quality is not great. I would advise against purchasing this printer as it has a short shelf life and you will soon be itching to buy another. ... more

    Advantages Advantages quick to install, good quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages need to buy orginial ink cartiage

    I bought a computer from tiny and the printer is accompany with it. The installation is easy and quick. The printer produces a very good quality printing and the printing time is short. Also, the ink has not become dry for about 3 months. I had Cannon printer before and the ink became dry after I didn't use it for about 1 month. However, I cannot find a compatible ink cartiage because hp has its unique copper plate. That means it costs me a lot on buying an original ink cartiage. Even it costs me a lot, I will keep using it forever as it produces a very good quality. ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very slow, can only have one cartridge at a time

    I was going to university 2 years ago so I had to buy a printer to go with my new computer. I decided to go with the HP DeskJet 420c, due it being inexpensive but still a good brand name. I was not dissapointed for a while until some paper got jammed in the feeder. It snapped off one of the feeder teeth, not that it is too bad, but it occasionally picks up more than one piece of paper each time. Also the need to change the cartridge form black to colour is a bit of a pain. The printer complains when the wrong type of cartridge is put in and the software gets confused and refuses to print.
