My home printer after three years decided that it no longer wanted to print. I then had to weight up the cost of getting the old printer repaired or going out and purchasing a new printer. I looked around and realised that printers were very cheap and that there was no contest, I opted to buy a new one.

I search around online for reviews to help me make a decision, but with so many mixed reviews I went for a cheap version so if it wasn’t that good I could purchase a new one.

When it comes to printers I have always had Hewlett Packard and I decided to keep to a brand that I know as they have always worked well for me in the past. The HP Deskjet 1050 is an all in one printer that prints, copies and scans. This means as it a printer that takes on a number of jobs it takes up a lot less space.

This printer is easy to set up so you do not have to be a computer expert to be able to set this up, what’s more it will be ready for you to use in a matter of minutes. It is compact and affordable at the same time.

The HP Deskjet 1050 takes two print cartridges, a black and a tri-colour, if you are printing in black you can print up to 5.5 pages per minute, in colour you can print up to 4 pages per minute. The copy speed in black is up to 4.5 pages per minute and in colour is up to 2.5 pages per minute.

When the printer arrived the box comes with the printer, a HP 301 black ink cartridge and HP 301 tri-colour ink cartridge. It also comes with a software CD, a setup guide, the power supply, cord and a reusable bag.

This printer is great and is well worth the £30 that I paid for it. It prints pictures well, but if you want to print large quantities of photographs there are probably better printers available, but for a larger price. When I want to print a large quantity of photos I upload them online and allow the expert to print them.

When you use the copier on this printer you do not have to turn the computer on to be able to use the copier, which is great especially if you are in a rush.

The only disadvantage that I can find with this printer is that it is a little loud when printing, but as I am not using it constantly I do not find this a major problem.

Overall a great all in one printer that is well worth it for the price tag, I appreciate there are better printer on the market, but these would cost you over £100. I recommend that when you need to purchase more ink for the printer search around online as there are many offers available online.
