I purchased this product at the end of July 2008 as I was setting up a new office for our company.
The price was just too good at £46.99 excl. VAT (www.misco.co.uk) and the printing speed with 30 pages per minute on a black draft setting. And even on colour draft setting it still spat out 23 pages per minute. Not bad for a printer of such small size (45.9 cm x 48 cm x 14.4 cm).
I also loved the design in sleak black and silver. Very modern and a compact, easy to fit size.

I have to say, the prints are absolutely brilliant! Fantastic colours and quick turn around. Also that I can connect my digital camera directly to the printer via USB cable is great.
BUT ... the big let down on this printer is the use of cartridge. The warning still rings in my ears "When you buy a cheap printer, watch out for how much you have to pay for matching cartridges and pay attention to the capacity."
Well, I checked to make sure and the product specs stated as follows:
You might agree with me that the above is not that bad for a small printer but when it came to the actual use, I was shocked to discover that I had to re-purchase a black AND colour cartridge after just one week using the printer.
I had set my print preferences to draft on both black and colour but the trend continued. And I found myself having to purchase new cartridges every fortnight at least. At a price of around £16.37 for the 350 Black XL (larger capacity) and £22.17 for the 351 XL colour this came very expensive.
I am not even a heavy user. Yes, I do run a small office from at home but there is NO WAY that I printed 860 pages a week on black and 580 pages on colour. I checked all my settings and everythings was as it supposed to be ... not on photo option, draft setting etc.
But if you can afford the money for a large stock on cartridge, this printer is the one for you.
Even though with the above disadvantage, the quality and speed are absolutely superb and the set-up is extremely easy.
Plug into your PC and the software will walk you through the set-up swiftly without much hanging about. You will be ready to go in less than 10 minutes after unwrapping the printer.

This is the problem with inkjet printers - they're enticingly cheap to buy, but the cost of ink cartridges is staggering and they run out surprisingly quickly. On the other hand, I have an old B&W laser printer that has been on the same toner cartridge for about 5-6 years despite getting used a lot every day! Maybe now that colour laser printers have come down in price so much, they may be a better option!
