This is another fantastic notebook from Hp. it?s the HP EliteBook 2730p. One of their most portable and also best spec laptops out at the moment, and perhaps that?s why its so expensive at around £1400.
The laptop is very good, and modern looking. Its encased in a steel shell, with the colour of aluminium. Its got a kind of nice rounded curve shaped sides and the screen is detached from the body apart from the hinges in the middle, this gives it a kind of futuristic look which I like about it.
The laptop offers a fantastic 2 GB of ram, which means this laptop does run really fast. However don?t expect it to be running quite as fast as less portable laptops as because its small, they have had to save on the processor only offering a Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400 with speeds of 1.86 Ghz. Which in this day of age, isn?t really that good.
The hard drive isn?t that good either, its 120 gb, which to be honest is more than enough for me if im not storing things like music and movies on. So if your only using this one for mainly work on the go then you should easily have enough space on it, and if you need more you could always just buy a cheap little external hard drive, which may be better than slowing down your computer with lots of files any way.
The screen size is really what makes this laptop so ?elite?. It is a mere 12.1" TFT screen, which may take a little bit of getting used to if you usually use something that?s 15.4 inches or more. However after a while there?s not really a problem with a smaller screen size, and because the screen is small the laptop is therefore smaller and its a lot easier to carry around, have on your lap, and do work on.
The keyboard is only a touch smaller than the average and you will barely notice the difference as a lot of laptop keyboards do vary in size slightly anyway. Typing is really just as easy as normal.
Okay then, now we get to what the laptop was made for, its portability. Well firstly its very small, its only 29 cm wide, 21 cm in depth and just under 3 cm high when closed so as you can see, it is very easy to carry about with you. It is also very light, despite being encased in steel, it still only weights 1.7 Kg and feels really light when you pick it up. One really good thing about this laptop though, is despite it feeling really light to pick up, it doesn?t feel flimsy in the slightest. This is down to its steel casing which not only looks good but also serves a purpose in protecting the laptop as well.
The battery life is also great on this laptop, it offers you over 6 hours of battery life with ongoing use. This is partly down to its small screen, and partly down to the slower processor speeds, either way, it offers you a lot of working time when on the move.
This laptop is great for doing work on when out and about, you can pop this into your rucksack, or handbag, and barley even notice its there. It looks very stylish and there?s a lot of great features.
What its not good for is multimedia uses, it has quite slow processor speeds, and a rubbish graphics card. So playing games on this, watching movies and other used like that really let it down, however if you want a laptop for these purposes then you should get a multimedia laptop and not a small notebook.
If you?ve got the cash to spare, and you want one of the best looking notebooks out there then this is great for you, but if I had to say whether or not I advise it then id have to say no. Its no where near as quick as the life books and Sony?s notebooks and is more expensive than them too.
Advantages: Light-weight, compact ands slim. Excellent battery life with over 6 hours of usage Disadvantages: A bit pricey and not the fastest laptop around.
...The good thing about newer HP laptops are they all come with built in web-cams, ideal for social networking, live straming etc. The down side to this laptop is it can be pricey for novice laptop users with general internet use. Although the Elitebook has a 1.86Ghz, it is not the fastest, and would not suit gaming. The buttons are quite small and compact, so it may be not suitable for people with big/wide fingers. ...
