The new elite books from HP offer a real power house of a computer in a fairly portable casing. The laptop itself comes in a steel case, this not only makes it look good but also makes it feel really sturdy to hold and really robust. One downside to this is that it does show up fingerprints really easily and you do find your self having to clean it quite often if you don’t want it to look a bit messy.
The screen size of this laptop is 15.4 inch, which is the average size of a laptop. This is about the size you would want if your just using a laptop for internet browsing, doing work on and playing those occasional games and videos. However if you like to watch a lot of videos on your laptop you might wish you’d bought a laptop with a 17 inch or bigger screen as this may be just too small for you. However video quality on the screen is good and after downloading 4od and playing videos off you tube and other sites I never once had to wait for the videos to load, they begun immediately and played all the way through without pauses which is really good.
The battery life is really letting this one down at the moment, it will only last you around one and a half hours and this seemed more like one with real hard use of it. Im not sure why this is so bad to say it has an 8cell battery however its probably to do with the Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 / 2.53 Ghz and 2 gb of ram running it down a bit.
As I just mentioned the 2gb of ram really does make this machine run fast. And if the 2 gb isn't enough for you (although I cant see this amount ever not being big enough for you), then you can easily upgrade your ram to 8gb. This will just make everything even faster than it already is, so if you so really need your laptop to be a bit faster then you have got this option at a later date. This is really good because what tends to happen is that as your laptop gets older, and your add more programs and files, it eventually gets slower and slower, this is just something that happens, so having this extra 6gb of ram available to be installed into the laptop means that if it does start to run slower than you want it to, then you can easily have extra ram installed. A bad thing about this option though, is that it can be costly to do, especially if you cant do it your self and you might have to pay a computer technician to do the work for you. Also a bit of a glitch is that it could, and I do say could, void the warranty, now I am unsure about the warranty of this specific laptop however it usually goes, if you alter any setting of the laptop by unscrewing things inside of it, then usually the warranty goes, as if it no longer works it could be your fault. So this is something to think about and look into before you start altering things inside the laptop.
The hard drive is also huge offering 250gb worth of space to store whatever you want to. Another thing I must mention then is that this laptop also does have a built in webcam at the top of its screen. This camera is an Integrated 2 Mega pixel webcam which captures pictures at a very high 1280 x 1024 resolution. Its not the best quality image iv seen however its better quality than a lot of laptops have built into them.
This laptop doesn’t disappoint, it looks good, it feels good and it runs very fast. However I still don’t think they have targeted the right market, its not portable enough to be sold for portability and there are quicker laptops out there for the same price.
