It's not flashy, it's not portable, it only does black and white and it doesn't do anything amazing. What it does do is churn out lots and lots of paper fairly fast with good clean printing. PC World took a little time delivering it to me (but they told me there would be a delay and refunded the delivery charge off their own bat, which I appreciated. On their site it also told me I needed to buy a USB cable, but I had one anyway.)
*set-up easy as 1-2-3*
I am notoriously bad at following instructions but I had this out of the box, set up, plugged in and printing the test page in about five minutes. It's only got a couple of buttons and most of the time it all prints out with one click of the mouse from my computer, so its not at all difficult to operate. My only gripe that the on-off swtich is round the back of the printer instead of on the panel on the top of it - not the most accessible place if you want to save space - because it's not small or light - by putting it back against the wall or next to another machine (or in my case, under the desk. I admit to leaving the switch on all the time and plugging/unplugging from the wall. But then again this saves energy!)
After my excessively old portable inkjet, this seems to print at the speed of light, and no chance of smudging the ink, either, since it's a laserjet!
I have hardly had a single problem with this printer in a year and a half of constant use. I printed almost 2,500 pages with the first cartridge - when the ink went streaky, meaning the cartridge was running out, I took it out and shook it, thus getting about another 50 pages' worth out of it before changing it. I'm now only on my third cartridge. The cartridges are expensive but you can get them recycled which helps.
I've never had to contact anyone for support. The only issue I've had is that if I notice it is running out of paper while in the middle of a print job, and I try and put more paper in the tray while it is actually printing, for some reason it takes in too much paper and I end up with a paper jam. This can be a little tricky to sort out because you have to half dismantle the printer and take the cartridge out in order to pull the jammed paper out again. For some reason I keep failing to learn and do this once every couple of months, but it's mostly down to my own stupidity. It isn't at all difficult to sort out though, it's easy enough to see what you have to take apart.
I got this printer because I read vast quantities of journal articles, most of which are available online. I hate reading on my computer screen (besides I can't scrawl on them then) so this is a cost-effective way to read them, far cheaper than photocopying or using the printer at uni. I can print something off at the last moment and run out the door - it's that fast. As it doesn't need any buttons pressing, it lives out of the way under my desk, saving me valuable desktop space. It only does black and white so it is not much good for photos; it does greyscale reasonably though, however anything colourfully graphics-heavy doesn't always print out all that well. It does prints out decently on recycled paper.

If you're just looking for a 'workhorse' to print out lots of text, this is a very cost-effective option. I also print off lots of old out-of-copyright books available online (and yes, I do recycle).
