Info If you are thinking of buying a printer, buy this. You won’t go back. You will love it. I have one and I love it. I’ve had it over 1 year and never had to change the toner unlike my old printer. This is a laser jet. This means it has powder instead of ink. These last a lot longer than normal ink. I’ve printed hundreds of pages of ink and still going strong. If you need this for work this is ideal. I print every day and never had one problem. The only problem I’ve had is that I’ve run out of paper. Trust me there isn't anything you won’t not like about this.
Cost The HP LaserJet 1020 cost me £99. My old printer is the HP DeskJet 5440. This cost me £69 and the black ink costs me around £15 and the colour costs me £15. That’s £30 to change the ink. That is off a website on the internet. It costs £25 each from a shop e.g. Pc World. So £50 to change my ink, the printer only cost £69. If you are looking to buy a printer, buy a laser jet. The toner lasts much longer and costs around £40. You can print out hundreds of pages with this printer and many more Laser Jet printers.
Paper When you are using this printer always use paper that is made for Laser Jet printers. Different paper is made for different kinds of printers. If you buy some paper for an Ink Jet printer and use it for a Laser Jet printer the paper could be out of line and print funny. Another thing is that the paper might jam in the printer when printing. More than one piece of paper could go through the printer and it print on half and half.
Connecting to your pc This printer connects to your pc using a USB cable. The disadvantages of this printer and many printers are that there isn’t a USB cable supplied with the printer and they cost around £6 depending where you buy one from and how big you need it to be.
Installing your Printer When installing your printer connect it to your pc using a USB cable and the power lead. After that there is jus a simple step by step procedure which you follow on screen. Just put in the CD what came with your printer and your on your way. You don’t need to install everything. All you need is the driver but you can install everything if you wish and if you are doing a great amount of printing it might be better to use the software provided.
What I think overall I wasn’t that surprised that there wasn’t a USB cable as not every printer is supplied with one although a lot of these reviews are saying that they was disappointed that there wasn’t one supplied, I was too but this isn’t a perfect world and if you are buying this printer don’t get home and realise that there isn’t a USB cable and go back to the shop to get one. Get one before you leave it will make your life much simpler. This is a 10/10 for me. This is inexpensive and easy to use and isn’t too big.
