When I was told we were to receive 3 of these I couldnt believe my ears. Straight from the box, well the crate anyways the obvious advantages of using recognised manufacturers machines became apparent. Within 45 minutes all 3 machines were ready to go and configured for network printing. In a normal office 1 of these machines would suffice as they easily tackle day to day printing jobs from multiple users.
Within an hour we had begun to use the machines mercilessly, this continued for 5 days solid! Each machine dealt with its demanding role effortlessly with only the occational crash none of which were life threatening and easily auto recovered (THANKS HP!) Easy paper changes and high capacity trays make life simple and give users the opportunity to stock 2 different paper sizes and types and have the option for manually feeding envelopes.
Each user once client software is installed can configure and setup their own profiles for different jobs including duplexing, paper sizes and types and a variety of finishing options.
On the odd occation when it jams of misfeeds paper - the paper path is easily accessible and quickly cleared. Changing of toner is efficient and with no mess. Training times for users are suprisingly low with even the most technophobic secretary trained and confident with its use in minutes. Technical support from HP is informitive and they are quick to help you find a resolution.
Moving the printer or finding space for it can be a problem - this is by no means a desktop machine - it demands a space of its own (quite rightly). Its price tag can make it hard to justify but if you have a high volume of work for it - it quickly excels itself and stands out from its cheaper rivals.
The speed claimed by the manufacturer for A4 Single sided printing is accurate but for A3 duplex printing ppm is reduced. Highly recommended.
