When we were looking at a office printer price wasn’t a consideration and neither was performance so when the HP OfficeJet Pro K850 was recommended by a client I had no hesitation in paying £245 for a the mono version (i.e. the black and white model).
Size wise it wouldn’t take up too much room and easily fit into the slot left by our now defunct printer. The dimensions being:
Installing the printer was easy and once the driver software was installed onto our server each individual PC detected it immediately and was able to send print jobs to it without any real fuss or bother.
Built into the printer is a Motorola ColdFire 4e 256 MHz processor and it uses HP PhotoREt III image enhancing technology to ensure that all of the prints that come off are always of the highest quality.
Print outs are produced using a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi x 600 dpi which mean they are always clear and lettering is smooth rather than blocky as was the case with our older (I say older, I mean antique) printer. When printing larger jobs printer speed is spot on and you can expect at less 22-25 pages to be printed per minute. Our experience is that standard letters actually come off a lot faster than this and with leaflets the speed has increased to up to 35 pages per minute. That is nearly 15 pages per minute more than we are used to so we are all mightily pleased with the performance and standard of the prints which are all great.
We have been using the printer now for over 2 months and the cartridge only needs to be replaced after 10,000 pages and maintenance/cleaning is done by our office junior. Once the printer is opened there are clear diagrams explaining what needs to be moved or unclipped making it as uncomplicated as possible.
Paper jams are a thing of the past in our office and we are delighted with our new printer. It fires off print jobs without any hassle leaving us more time to talk about football. Just don’t tell the boss!
