Type: Value Processor Family: Intel 5 Series (pentium four) RAM: 256 MB Storage Capacity: 80 GB RAID: No Graphics Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 GM Primary Optical Drive: dvd-rom/Compact Disc Re Writer Secondary Optical Drive: None Monitor Type: CRT Screen Size: 17 inches
The time it takes to boot up and load the computer from the power switch is very fast. It takes less than thirty seconds from power on, until the start screen can be seen.
With time if adding files and other game programs the memory will become slower. A two hundred and fifty six mega byte ram is not enough and I would suggest as I have done at additional expense is to place a one or two giga bye random access Memory Stick.
It is a computer that is very straightforward to connect to the internet.
Value for money is good as the highest possible frequency of CPU is 5ghz which is close to the radio frequency. 2.93 GHZ is certainly fast. When compared to the 1GHZ CPU computers i have had in the past, this is a Mercedes car engine compared to a slow car.
It is a computer that has a noisy fan when the CPU are running low or when the computer resources are moving fast. This strongly suggest that the heatsink and fan needs improving.
It has a nice Universal Serial Bus Card reader port, all the voice, microphone and speaker, Keyboard and Mouse ports. The colour coding of the ports is useful as the user can install these devices much more faster.
The Graphics Card is fairly standard, it would not be the greatest performer in the gaming entertainment category. Though as a good budget manufacturers Graphics Card it certainly does handle itself well when playing games.
For people that like upgrading the motherboard can not be used to upgrade Graphics Cards. So in effect upgrading this computer is not going to happen.
80 giga byte harddrive is again factory standard, though quite low in terms of the latest computer desktops available on the market these days. Though again upgrading this aspect is not a problem as external Hard Drives with much bigger capacity can be used here.
The office packages contained included Microsoft Works, which I am sure few people use. The Office suite must be purchased seperately or installed later if you already have a paid for disc for Office. Other programs included are Norton Anti Virus and firewall. Quicken, win dvd, and HP Tunes media.
My conclusion is that I find that this is a good value for money computer and one that I find that I will have no immediate need to replace for a long time. Definetely a good computer in the budget low cost computer division.
