Advantages: Looks great with hp PC's, Inbuilt Mic, good menu Disadvantages: As with all 17" CRT's very deep
...is they have to be HP Polk Audio speakers.
Also the monitor comes with an inbuilt microphone. I gotta admit I thought I would use this feature a lot more than I actually did! It barely noticeable which is great. However, when you do spot it it's got a cool aluminium look cage over it, somehow looks professional. I'm sure this addition would be great for those of you who frequently converse over the net in meetings etc. What’s more ... ...out next to the monitor connector right at the end. This means you don’t have two wires from the monitor connecting to the PC. Keeps it tidy
*****MENU*****
The menu is nothing out of the ordinary. It's very simple to use with a menu, exit, +, -, Contrast and brightness buttons. The menu lets you change...
1) Brightness
2) Contrast
3) Zoom
4) Size and Position
5) Advanced Geometry (e.g. trapeziums, ... more
I will admit I didn’t want this monitor. No way. I was looking into the future, with LCD screens, and big one's at that. However, unless you're buying a TFT monitor with a PC it becomes quite apparent that it’s just not financially viable for most people. This is why I decided to hold back until prices are actually worth considering and buy this beaut.
*****LOOKS***** After looking at a shelf in a store full of monitors this one stood right out. No more beige or black boxes for me! I'm not going to go into detail about how it's "lovely curve complement the artists’ style" because frankly not everyone likes the look. I can totally understand why. To some people it’s the latest concept car of the monitor world. To some it’s just some clunky pieces of new age garbage. Either way is understandable. The picture doesn't do it justice. Those "clunky bits" are sort of faded partially see throughable (yup great way to explain it I know). They're just original okay, no other way to describe them, I like it and so should you! grrr! Although not looked at very often even the stand has had some designing. No more do we have to endure flat and intimidating stands, rather a more airy and modern approach has been taken. If you're ever bored you can even look right under it. It's actually quite surprising the 4 prongs can hold the weight of the monitor, it's not light
*****SIZE***** As with all of the CRT monitors that are at 17" this one is very deep. This is probably its only drawback. It's also not all that light. Don’t get me wrong it's not the weight of a jumbo jet, it's just a bit heavy if you're not used to moving around office equipment etc.
*****ADDITIONAL FEATURES***** Monitors have no really been known for their extra features down the years. There was that phase when they all had knobs on the front to turn the volume up and down but my god weren't those ugly?! Anyway this comes equipped with holes on the side to place speakers on. The catch is they have to be HP Polk Audio speakers.
What’s more the cabling is excellent. The microphone connector lead only pop out next to the monitor connector right at the end. This means you don’t have two wires from the monitor connecting to the PC. Keeps it tidy
*****MENU***** The menu is nothing out of the ordinary. It's very simple to use with a menu, exit, +, -, Contrast and brightness buttons. The menu lets you change... 1) Brightness 2) Contrast 3) Zoom 4) Size and Position 5) Advanced Geometry (e.g. trapeziums, trapezoid, side pins and pincushion) 6) Advanced Menu (Colour, Language etc.) 7) And finally, Degauss.
Nothing spectacular about the menu except it's very simple to use and the buttons are well placed to let you get to where you want very quickly
*****SPECIFICATION***** If you just read the review to get a read of some specifications here you go...
0.27mm dot pitch 320mm by 240mm Maximum viewable area 30 to 70 kHz Horizontal line frequency 50 to 120Hz Raster frequency 110MHz dot rate 5 degrees forward/backward pedestal 60 degree swivel left right pedestal 414 by 440 by 442mm dimensions 15.4kg net weight Maximum Resolution of 1280 by 1024
*****MANUAL***** The manual is very short and tells you the basics with very well drawn diagrams etc. However, it really comes into its own in the detailed stuff about the monitor; it even tells you the pin assignments of the connector. It's great
Overall the Picture Quality is great, the features are good and the manual is good. Nothing more to say. Hehe. Please lave comments on this review so I can improve
Advantages: Great reliability value for money and stylish Disadvantages: none.
...The monitor designed by HP is 17", but it is 17" of gold, other monitors i have had after a few months pixels here and there would break, and leave black dots on the screen where once you notice you cant stop looking at it, but not the pavilion mx70.
The monitor itself is straight forward to use, its basically plug & play, the options on the monitor are easy to use with select + / - buttons brightness contrast and mode buttons, wich give indepth ...

Advantages: Simple to use; high quality resolution; tough; versatile, etc Disadvantages: Heavy; bulky; large; takes up alot of space, etc
The hp pavilion mx70 is a fantastic computer! This is because it is versatile, tough, good quality and has a fantastic monitor resolution. However, I think that the main disadvantage with this monitor is that it takes up a lot of room, as it is extremely large. Also, it is heavy and hard to carry - by my standards anyway. It has a fantastic speaker at the top of the monitor, which in turn, produces good quality sound and I find it is very useful ... ...with them too. The brightness of the screen can be adjusted by pressing the button on the left side that has a small image of the Sun.
The contrast can be adjusted by pressing the button next to the brightness button (right) - half of the image is a shaded circle.
This monitor/screen is perfect for the beginner or experienced computer enthusiast, with its simple-to-use fuctions. It represents excellent value for money. ...

Quick review of HP Pavilion MX70
I have had my mx70 for 7 years. The only reason I just bought a new computer was for more memory. My MX70 is still going strong and I've used it constantly. It is now going to a new home where it will give someone else years of excellent service. ...

Advantages: Love the colour and design Disadvantages: Quite heavy, and very deep!
Wow...I love the idea of something other than the beige computer tower and monitor. This monitor is a very modern looking blue and silver. The screen is 17". It has a microphone in the top of the monitor which could prove useful (I have not tested it yet). The monitor is also equipt to have Polk audio speakers attached.
It displays colours and images quite vividly, with a max. resolution of 1280 by 1024.You can alter the settings via the one touch ... ...etc.
One criticism is the power lead, why oh why do manufactures provide only inches of lead I will never know. I have viewed dvds on this monitor and picture resoloution on full screen is excellent.
As usual you can alter settings via the windows interface for your own preference. It is a very good multipurpose monitor. Whats more the monitor doesn't have to be installed, just plug in and it's ready for use. The monitor sits on a 60 degree left/right ...

sort of spider leg base. Easy movable to change screen to suit requirements for yourself or whoever is using it. Colour of monitor is mostly silver with some navy (along the front) and on the front where it is navy are silver buttons which include volume, mode, contrast and also a button to turn the screen off.
The keyboard is also navy and silver. This I really like. Gives it a more up to date feeling. Along the top of the keyboard are buttons to standby the comp, direct access keys to HP website, your printer, your scanner, shopping sites, sports sites, finance sites, search engines, chat rooms and email. Also has a sort of remote control for your CD rewriter and DVD player.
Now when I say about the CD rewriter. This does not come with this P.C. I know it can be bought separately and added on but the features are here if you ...
