HP Pavilion Media Center dv9576ea Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 17" TFT

Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming

...I bought this laptop in September 2007 after much research into what laptop was best for me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming. Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less to damage - simplicity is key I think. The laptop is full of features. As well as the bright screen and touch-sensitive controls for music and dvd, there is more than adequate connectivity and the laptop also came with a special edition mouse and headset - a nice extra touch that made me feel I got... Advantages: Looks brilliant, huge screen, very powerful
Disadvantages: Size and weight (only to be expected), short battery time

...and the XP desktop - all I needed to do was install the new version of Norton Internet Security on the desktop - so HP customer suppport couldn't really have done anything about it... Only problem with this is that it takes a while to send files to the printer (about 20 seconds for a 2 page Word document), but this is probably because of the speed of my wireless network, rather than my PC.] Operating System: The computer runs Windows Vista Home Premium, which looks and feels very good. There are still some compatibility issues with some programs (such as Stronghold 2, which I needed to contact the manufacturer for an extra bit of software, but is now working :) ), but this isn't really the place to discuss the merits of Windows Vista, since this isn't specific to the laptop.
