Boasting a sleek and shiny black-and-silver chassis, the HP Pavilion A6030N desktop PC comes loaded with the all tools you need to easily create, manage, share, and enjoy your digital photos, home videos, movies, and music.
...I purchased this product as it was an economy model - being a student, my budget didn't stretch too far. I paid £430 including VAT, and all in all, it is a good buy.
Good points about the computer:
- Easy to set up - it really is plug and play;
- Good speakers;
- Internet and media buttons on keyboard;
- Good keys;
- Helpful documentation.
Quibles:
- Noisy;
- No DVD;
- Speakers have nobbly bits on side which are a nuisance if you don't buy an HP monitor....

HP Pavillion DV 6355 Review ofHPPavilion Media Center dv6355ea Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T5300 1.73 GHz - 15.4" TFTby

Advantages: Remote, Bright and Sharp Screen, Lightweight, Large Hardrive Disadvantages: 1GB Ram, Only 3 USB Ports, Webcam Incompatability with Vista
...HP's piano lacquer Pavilion design with subtle wave pattern, provides the laptop with a nice appearance and the silver keyboard deck looks sharp and sleek. The glossy black exterior however, is a fingerprint magnet, but HP provide a cleaning cloth to compensate for this. The only downside is that the mouse buttons are soft and squishy, not giving a firm 'click'.
The 15.4-inch glossy widescreen is of the new, brighter variety, with better colour reproduction. The screen's 1280 x 800 pixel resolution makes for comfortable viewing on an LCD this size, however higher resolution would be preferred. Above the screen you'll find an integrated webcam, which at 640 x 480 pixels has a lower resolution than other models however does not work with Vista and HP have acknowledged this!!! A little downside with the lid is the lack of latch, meaning...

Advantages: great portability Disadvantages: Problems with this hp model
...Notebook speed issue
I think data bus speed is the culprit here.
The Front Side Bus (FSB) is the data channel that connects the processor, other chips, memory, and the video circuitry. The motherboard in this HP laptop runs at a pokey 100MHz FSB. A comparably-priced Toshiba (A45-S121) runs at 266Mhz FSB using the same 2.8GHz Celeron. The processor can support up to a 400MHz FSB.
See this HP laptop series specs at ---------------
To date, all Celeron 2.8GHz processors have had on-die L2 cache of only 128KB. The Pentium 4 versions have L2 cache of up to 512KB and run at a 533MHz FSB. This includes HP ZE5xxx series notebooks built with Pentium 4 CPUs.
Lastly, when running on battery, the power saving setup of most notebooks will throttle back the CPU speed to increase battery life. You might be able to override this by adjusting...

This is an unbelievably fast and very good looking laptop. The finish on it is very nice and the shape of it looks good from any angle. Another great thing about this is the 320GB hard drive because you can store so much on there wothout having to worry... more
