(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
Advantages: Screen, Processor, Ram Disadvantages: Robbed HD Space

They say this is easier than giving out install disks, although I think their just skimping on costs and therefore costing me HD space, very annoying. I have owned the DV6095 for just over a year now and have to say it has completed all tasks thrown at it as I would expect from a £700 laptop, including playing Medal of Honour Airborne, ok it did struggle a bit at this although it was ok on lowever gfx settings.
~~~Looks~~~
The laptop looks simply stunning with a black glossy top with swirl effects similar to that you find on modern plasma and LCD screens minus the swirls. The black gloss also surrounds the screen which really defines the edges of the screen and gives the laptop a great look. The base of the laptop is just plain black plastic with a shiny silver top surrounding the keyboard which is black. Above the keyboard is a line of "Quick Touch" buttons that can be used to control music and so forth, these are again glossy black and light up blue when the system is on. Finally above this is a metal great where the speakers are, not the most attractive however it is the way all Altec Lansing speakers are designed and the quality makes up for the looks.
~~~Power~~~
The basic specs of the DV6095:
- AMD Turion X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 - 2048MB Ram - 100GB HD - Lightscribe DVD Burner (Dual Layer) - 128MB PCI-e NVIDA GeForce Go 7200 - 15.4\" WXGA Widescreen - Windows Media Centre 2005 - WLAN
For a start the processing power for such a small machine is simply exceptional and easily allows me to convert a file to DVD while surfing the web or writing reviews. The processing power is provided by an AMD 1.81GHz dual core which should be more than enough for any laptop user. The hard drive on this computer is great at 100GB however this is one of the most annoying parts of the system as although the hard drive is larger than 100GB (about 120GB) the rest is partitioned of as HP RECOVERY so you can reinstall the OS if your system fails. They say this is easier than giving out install disks, although I think their just skimping on costs and therefore costing me HD space, very annoying. The 2048MB ram in this computer is again simply superb for a laptop this size and provides great support during video editing which the computer handles with relative ease. The DVD burner is just your average burner, im not sure about the full speed of it as I have only used 4x disks. Also it is supposed to be able to burn images on to special lightscribe disks so you don't have to print a label. The graphics card is probably the worst part of the system although is good for a laptop providing great gaming, well at low gfx settings although you don't really notice on a 15.4" screen so I have no complaints considering I didn't buy it for gaming. The screen on this system is simply amazing providing great quality at 1280x800 resolutions, so it is capable of 720p high def footage. Also it has a glossy finish which makes images more bright and defined. Windows media Centre is the perfect accomplice for this laptop providing a nice GUI for scrolling through your songs, videos and pictures. Finally the laptop has 54mbps wireless lan connection on top of its 100mbps lan connection. ~~~Connections~~~ The laptop boasts: 3 x USB 2.0 A HP expansion port for desktop docks A VGA port capable of 1280X800 resolution A SVHS port A Card Reader A Firewire port (The smaller Version) A PCI Express Card Slot All the connections you could need from a laptop, I have even connected the VGA to my 720p 42" TV and provided stunning HD pictures.
Overall a great laptop that provides stunning performance as well as vision and sound for around £700 a bargain if you ask me.
Advantages: Fast, attractive Disadvantages: Gloss finish marks easily, no latch to hold lid down, heavy
...USB port), and the biggy... HP do not ship recovery disks, they expect you to make your own. When you spend over £1000 on a PC, you do not automatically plan for it going wrong, you trust that it will run perfectly forever. And when it doesn't and you need to restore or repair your operating system, it's extremely convoluted unless you really know your stuff. If this PC were a car it would be a Mondeo. With a few go faster stripes. ...
