HP Pavillion g6061ea

Review of Hewlett Packard Pavilion Media Center Notebook

A Hewlett Packard notebook using microsoft vista home premium Operating System. This is a quite good notebook for beginners and entry level Notebook.

What I like about this Notebook, is that it is a quite decent specifications allowing me, to surf Online, play games, write letters and compose e mails on a multi tasking basis. The combination of amd's Dual Core processing ability and its useful one hundred Giga byte storage space allows me to carry out most basic notebook tasks fairly well.

The amd athlon sixty four times two, core processing unit, with a maximum running speed of one point nine Giga hertz which can easily be overclocked. Here what I am trying to say is that the speed of processor is not that good. By comparison this specification of this notebook though some might like it, the speed really is not up to much. Most if not all pentium four, Coreduo, Notebook and mobile desktop tasks at much faster speed.

This Hewlett Packard g6061 is not a top of the range specification notebook, and secondly is from being anywhere near the top of the range category.

The notebook's screen is relatively thin and its black bezeled, which I like as there is little chance of scratching if using a grey or silver coloured frame. The screen can not be tilted beyond the vertical axis, meaning that it cant be adjusted backwards for a slightly better angle for the eye view or positioning. The screen is a Liquid Crystal display with totally flat technology fifteen inch screen

Software contained pre installed

A trial version of Microsoft Office student edition 2007. Here I found it really disappointing, as I had to install Office 2003 which I have had previously. Many a times in the past I had realised the problems of compatibility between Microsoft Office versioned software, this time was again no different. This little qualm aside I was left to fix by using an older version of Office 2003. I do find it slightly upsetting having paid for the notebook, that this part of the deal really represents a bad value purchase, that I had been sold a decent notebook without a fully functional Microsoft Office pre installed.

Norton trial version of Anti Virus is not a real incentive worth having included this program.

Windows Media player version eleven is pre installed and looks a nice skin design for media playing.

In terms of the Operating System which I have recently reviewed, I had found this similar to using Windows xp, though it simply did not contain enough improvements to really warrant a positive recommendation towards.

Graphics card. Here with the ability to play games, watch films. I was extremely pleased with the results. The geforce seven thousand range is also an almost outdated graphics card with a mere three hundred and eighty four mega byte shared graphics Memory. In saying that other notebook products do offer much enhanced performance based on capability. I do not know too much technically speaking though based on this card I believe that It does not support the latest video graphics codec files.

The compact and digitally versatile disc burning software and the drive itself is good. The autoplay settings work really effectively and this is a reliable digitally versatile disc playing, recording, burning unit.

There is an instant power off switch that puts it on standby.

The hard disk space was plenty for my notebook usage as it has a one hundred and twenty Giga byte file storage space, which really is plenty adequate enough to carry out basic and intermediate notebook tasks over the long term.

System Memory contains two Giga byte, this can be expanded to a maximum of four Giga byte's. Though for what this System represents overall it is not worth upgrading anytime soon or in fact ever. The System represents a notebook that can play notebook games, not Crysis, though It can handle games such as FIFA manager, and other games where the System requirements are not quite so high.

The wireless function's of the Notebook as it contains 802.11 b/g standard is not the fastest up to date function of using Wi-Fi, I feel that this System was introduced maybe two or three years ago, having read some of the archived pages of some Online forums. This further illustrates that this System is not that new in terms of specification.

disadvantages of Hewlett Packard g6061ea

Price Paid: Out of the Three hundred and Eighty Pounds I paid on Amazon, of which fifty six Pounds is. I then need to spend extra on a Microsoft Office which can cost another one hundred and twenty Pounds. Now I have a machine that costs five hundred Pounds, which I am finding hard to support my decision strongly to purchase this. On top of this no other extra's such as wireless router, printer were offered as part of the deal.

The speed of the processor is not really that fast. The heatsink and fan is also louder, and overheat's faster compared to intel based notebook's I have had in the past. I have had this notebook for about a month and I have noticed noise at the start up and during the time vista home takes to load at the start. The Webcam quality is not the best in terms based on the poor image definition and range of colours.

For typing tasks using Microsoft Word, the system seems to be a great deal slower than my intel three Giga hertz desktop, at processing tasks i.e auto saving work and quite irregularly the cursor moves along with the screen quite effortlessly, though naturally this is an undesirable and not user friendly characteristic. Therefore in this case, its either the system or my own useage that is causing, what should be a straightforward task seem that much more harder.

Conclusion

For a price and performance basis this is a most useful albeit standard notebook. Though for sheer performance it really is better looking elsewhere. Having read some Online forums, that really put this notebook, in the old closet in terms of performance.

Whilst this was the time that I have switched to an amd notebook purchase, I feel that I want to move back to the intel brand. My only joy In this purchase was the use of fifty Pounds of Amazon vouchers.
