Having bought a digital camera, I wanted a way of printing photos out at home from it. Not having a PC at home at the time, I needed a stand alone printer that you could just slot your memory card from your camera into and print off your pics.
I bought the printer a little while ago, I think it was around £100. I've used it a lot since then and have found it very good. Plus points are its size and weight. Its very compact and weighs very little so can be easily carried about or stored. Its also extremely simple to use which is a bonus. You simply plug in your memory card from your camera, choose which photos you want, then press print and out they come. There are some more advanced functions on it, but to be honest I haven't really bothered with them. This printer only prints out standard sized photos like you get from Boots etc, not A4.
You can of course also plug it into your PC with a usb cable and print directly from your PC. Not the fastest printer ever invented but does the job in a reasonable time. Good quality prints too.
I have yet to replace the ink cartridge, although the usage monitor on my PC tells me it will soon be time to replace the cartridge. Lasted pretty well though as I've printed loads of photos off. Photo paper is around £7-9 for a pack of 20 sheets depending on what quality paper you get. I normally buy the hp own brand - they do 2 types I believe, one is the standard paper, then the other one is the next standard up - Premium paper its called, slightly heavier and thicker than the other one. But of course more expensive! I went to buy some more supplies last week from Comet - went to get my usual helping of hp paper, was just about to pay when I noticed a BOGOF on the Kodak paper. Nice one! Does the job perfectly well, even a slightly better quality than the hp paper. Seeing as photo paper doesn't "go off" - I bought plenty of packs to make use of the BOGOF!
I would recommend this printer, it's a reasonable price and does the job perfectly. I use a lot of hp equipment at work, including printers and we have little trouble with them, seem to be very reliable.
