Advantages: Nice camera with good features for the price Disadvantages: Serious durability issues, I would not buy it again
...few years are active (The HP support forum at forums1.itrc.hp.com has a really long thread about this camera, with many disappointed owners). My first one simply died, wouldn't turn on or anything. HP replaced that one. The replacement camera had a weird problem where you had to work the zoom in order to get it to begin focusing, but I could use it so I didn't haggle. Then, the big problem came: three colorbars on the screen, and no more working ... ...expired, and in this event, HP does absolutely nothing for you except offer to sell you a refurb. Knowing what I know now, I would not have bought my HP612 because they come from the factory with this wide-impacting (although time delayed onset) problem. Advantages: high quality pictures Disadvantages: very high battery usage
found this camera to be easy to use though the instruction booklet could be a little overwhelming for a novice user. the high quality of the pictures was good even suprisingly when set at low resoulution. this has the disadvantage of needing a memory card if you wish to take more than 7 pictures when the camera is set at its highest resoulution but it will quite comfatably take 100 + pics on its lowest setting. it has a auto focus zoom lens plus ... ...lcd screen does not do any of your photos justice. has the feature to print out direct from the camera with any compatible printer without the need for a pc. the biggest dissapointment however is the battery usage. tried rechargables and duracel as well as other brands and got on average 35 pics using the flash on all of them before they where flat. all said and done not a bad camera for the price. i got mine for £50.00 from a major office supply ...
