This is my second ever printer. The Printer before this one was about 5-6years old so when i got this new one it was like entering a new world.
The draft setting is amazing. The printer literally prints so quickly that the paper gets spat out! I found this amazing! From the old one to this one there is a huge step!
I have also recently got a camcorder with an SD card. I used to have to plug in the camera and the computer had to go though all the stages of opening up the aplications and everything for the camcorder. But now i have an SD card reader included in the Printer! It also has: XD reader, MS/DUO reader, CF reader and MMC reader!
Using the SD card reader means that i can open up my videos and pictures so much more quickly.
There was one problem. When we got it there was no lead which connects it to the computer. I dont know if it was a mistake but it was very anoying. But i luckily found a cable and it was very easy to set it up with the computer.
This printer also has a special Photo Pinter. It comes with about 3 peices of photo paper and a special photo ink cartridge. Again, very easy to connect together. And also! it can print onto CDs and DVDs which is very useful.
Not only does this printer work well but it looks great! and it feels very sturdy!
The software included is very easy to set up and works like a charm. and the set up instructions for the printer is super aswell!
I would highly recommend this to amyone looking for a printer
Advantages: Reliability. Good quality results. Keen price Disadvantages: Poor software that hinders the printer's potential
The HP Photosmart D5160 is a lovely printer keenly priced. The photos it prints are sharp and clear, given the use of the right paper. On standard document printing it ranks along side other HP inkjets.
Where it excels other HP inkjets is the ability to load SD cards, USB memory sticks and the like directly into the printer itself and therefore avoids the need to have a computer. It also can print directly onto CD/DVDs with a printable surface (Not ... ...many other fine possibilities. The HP D5160 only allows you to add text in straight lines on a small portion that it specifies. In addition its picture and layout capabilities are extremely limited. This is very poor showing from HP, who have obviously knocked together some feeble software that severely limits its own machine's potential. The only way around this is to pay a further £15 or so and buy CD printing software separately.

Advantages: Great photo and A4 printing quality, Great Price, Looks Good Disadvantages: None...
...for it, you install the HP Photosmart software which comes with the printer bundle obviously. This is done by simply following the on screen instructions. This takes approximatly 20 minutes all in all. Once you have done this, you plug in the ink cartiges (A monkey could do this, it is extremly easy) and your away.
I strongly recommend a purchase of the accessory pack wuth the printer which includes 2 extra ink cartiges and 500 sheets of photo paper ... ...little feature which allows you to plug in many different kinds of memory cards straight into the printer, ranging from CF, SD/MMC, XD and MS/DUO and you then simply add the photos from the card into the software and you are ready to print your photos! You select which photos you would like to print and you load the photo paper into the Photo paper tray (The printer has two trays, one for photo paper and one for A4 Paper) and you then select which ...

...price. Also, as with most HP models, you replace the ink and the print header, which means that you don't have to worry about cleaning the heads all the time.
The D5160 has a very useful feature, two paper trays, an A4 at the front and a 10x15 behind, meaning you don't have to keep re-sizing the tray to fit your paper.
Another wonderful feature is the memory card slots; you can just take the memory card out of your digital camera and place it in ... ...different card slots, incl. SD and MMC). Also, it has a USB port, so you can plug your camera right into it.
The printer comes with HP's own software, so you don't have to buy any extra software. It catalogues all of your photos and makes it so simple to print them. As an added bonus, it has editing software, which is limited but can still provide you with the raw basic tools needed to, say, crop an image.
Finally, the printer also allows you to ...

Advantages: Easy to use, quiet, quality printing at a great price Disadvantages: none
Fantastic printer, very good value for money. Very easy to use and very easy to install the software.
I found it quiet as far as home printers go. And quite quick with quality printing.
I think the slots for your memory card from your camera is a great idea and makes for printing photos easy.
The only 'little' moan I have is that there wasn't a USB cable in the box and you can't connect to your PC/Laptop with out one. But I guess it's my fault ...
