The HP Photosmart E317 digital camera is a very stylish camera at an affordable price, easy to use and takes wonderful pictures. What more could you ask for in a camera.
For power the HP E317 requires 2 double A batteries which are included with the purchase of the camera. It has a 5.0 megapixel resolution, 4x digital zoom, 16 Mb internal memory with a SD card slot, 1.5 inch color image display and the capability for video with audio. Also included with the purchase of the camera is a Samsonite carrying case with pockets for spare batteries and SD cards and HP Image Zone software, which will allow you to edit, organise, print, share and create cards with your photos.
Now for more about the HP E317's features.
As for every camera you can take still shots. With the HP E317 you have the abiltiy of taking shots in normal mode, zooming in with the digital zoom or taking close up pictures (60 cm to 1meter) in Macro mode. It also has the capability of using a 10 second timer delay for those times you don't have anyone else to take a picture for you. Also another important feature of the still shots is its 5 shooting modes. The 5 settings to choose from are Auto mode, Action, Landscape, portrait, and Sunset. Auto mode is used for most any shot, the camera will determine the shutter speed for the scene. Action mode is useful for when taking shots of moving objects and you want them to appear as if they were still. (decrease that little trailing blur.) Landscape mode is used to capture scenes with deep perspectives, such as skylines or mountains. Portrait mode blurs the background while focusing in on the subject of the shot. Sunset mode is basically what it sounds like, it is used to take pictures when you want to preserve the natural warmth of lesser lighting.
There camera comes with 4 setting for the flash, Flash-off, flash-on, Red-eye and Auto-flash. The flash-off mode is just what it says, the camera will not use the flash. While in the Flash-on mode, the camera will use the flash for every picture. For the Red-eye mode, the camera will measure the light and use a quick flash up to 3 times before taking the picture. And Auto-flash, for this mode the camera will measure the amount of light and determine if the flash is needed or not.
Now for video mode. While in video mode the camera's digital zoom will not work, so no zooming in close-ups with this camera, but you will have a nice video with audio. To get to video mode from still shot mode, you need not do anything. The camera comes with seperate buttons for each. It is as simple as 1,2,3.
After you take your still photos or video clips, you are able to view them by pressing a button right beside the LCD. Although you will not be able to hear the audio portion until you download it to a computer. A USB downloading cable is included with purchase.
All and all I have enjoyed using the HP E317 and can think of no complaints on the quality of the pictures, videos or anything else for that matter. It has provided me with an easy to carry camera that is very reliable in taking quality photos.
