Advantages: 2 years and still brilliant! Disadvantages: Only marked down one star for the fairly low battery life

There is only one fairly large current problem with this camera, which is the battery life. But, I didn't charge the camera as long as I should have for the first time, which I think is the reason for that (so first time, charge it as long as possible!). Still, it's not too much of an issue - you can take about 50-100 photos in the battery time.
The camera, when charging or connected to the computer has to go on a 'dock', which is good because it means the camera only has to have one place where it plugs into something else, but is bad because if you take your camera and charger somewhere there's no way of using them if you forget the dock...
I did have one other problem with the camera a while back, which was that when I was looking through the photos and reached a paticular one, the camera froze and I had to take the battery out every time. So obviously I couldn't delete the photo unless I went on it (which made it freeze...) and it wouldn't connect to the computer (probably for this same reason). The only way to solve it was to go on 'delete all' and delete the 350 photos I had just taken, which was very annoying! However, nothing like that has happened since!
Even after 2 years the camera is still in perfect condition, and I now know how to change things such as focus, lighting, color, quality of picture (you can change from having a lot of lower-quality photos to a few ones that are massive with a high quality!) and such.
It is a good camera for someone who is changing from beginner to intermediate because it can be used with someone who knows nothing about cameras, but helps you learn, because you don't need to know everything about photography, as there are many preset settings (and manual ones for when you get better at using it), and there is a menu for each photo which includes handy tips for improving the photo!
So overall, I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants a camera that is easy to use, easy to learn and that produces a good photo every time!
Advantages: Takes great photos Disadvantages: Batteries
...do need to use the HP photo paper, and that can be anything from £7.99, depending on the quality you buy. For the most part I went with a cheaper option, you can get some very good printer paper from pound shops, etc and the quality is just as good.
Hardware:
The camera itself is small, and very easy to carry around. It comes with a strap so you can wrap it around your wrist when you're walking around. The camera comes with 2 AA rechargeable batteries, ... ...The camera also comes with HP software to supposedly help you edit your photos further, however after loading it onto my computer I didn't really find that it was much use for me, also it didn't really agree with my system (I'm running Windows Vista so that could be the problem). I promptly removed the software, as I have a different editing software which I prefer (Paint Shop Pro), plus all the editing I need to do with my photos is available on ...

Quick review of HP PhotoSmart M425
The camera itself if fine - takes excellent snaps, even for a dedicated point and clicker like myself. What seriously lets it down is the difficulty experienced trying to get the batteries charged using the supplied dock/printer, which 'assumes' that every time you dock the camera you want to print. Allegedly the dock should detect that the batteries need recharging and recharge them, but nine times out of ten (in my experience at least) the dock resolutely refuses to charge the batteries. If only it was supplied with the dock/printer AND a separate charger it would be a fantastic little camera. ...

Advantages: everything you need Disadvantages: except for a memory card
...sometimes problematic according to the hp website the printer detects the energy left in the battery if the batteries are run down the printer assumes they are none rechargeable and refuses to charge them. According to the website you should buy new batteries by my bodge it solution is to leave them in your pocket till they are nice warm, then hey presto they charge again.
Anyway back to the product the camera is nice and useful and the pictures ... ...longer ranges the pictures lose some quality so not ideal for landscape photography. The video recording feature is much the same in terms of distance just with a further reduction in the clearness. The camera has a range of options including delay, night and differing flash modes all of which work fine.
The printer is very good, though it does use quite a lot of ink. The printer can connect to your pc to print direct from your harddrive or to upload ...

Advantages: beautiful quality photos, excellent editing features, small and lightweight, very stylish. Disadvantages: did not come with a camera bag to protect it.
I had this digital camera bought for me for Christmas by my boyfriend, as I'd wanted a digital camera for quite a while. My camera was actually part of a camera and printer set, and cost £125 on a Christmas sale at Argos, which was a fantastic deal.
Well what can I say about the camera, it takes beautiful clear quality photographs that look fantastic any time of day or night due to the amazing flash. There is also editing features on the camera ... ...black and white, sepia and negative. This is very useful and I was extremely pleased.
The camera is very easy to use, also boasting a video record feature with sound. The camera is small and lightweight and extremely stylish and looks like a very expensive camera and behaves like one also!
With my product I got the printer package also which I was very pleased with, the photos are of excellent quality in a 4x6 size and the colour is also amazing. ...

good value, good mode selection, good quality, well built, canon quality, good battery life, good resolution and quality, good manual controls, good LCD
clumpy, clunky design and controls, too big to be a true compact, interface pauses, zoom irritating, not worth the upgrade from G3 (*)
