I have had the Hewlett Packard scanjet scanner 5200c for nearly a twelve months now and it as served me very well without any problems. It has both usb and parallel connections of which I use the usb for its easy of use and portability.The usb drivers installed without any problems and so did the supplied software Adobe Photo Deluxe Business edition and Caere Pagekeeper Standard.By using the scanning software you can do a prescan and then pick an area of that if you want, also you can pick the dpi and various other settings.
