I was looking for a new top of the range scanner, to go along with my Hp P1000 photo smart printer, so I needed one at a good price, but which had great quality scanning, and I found it. Everyone knows that Hp can be a bit pricey, but for around £130, this has to be worth it.
It has a max resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch), and this is ideal for enlarging pics and still keeping the quality in the picture. It is quick and as you can save the pics as jpegs, and other file types, it does'nt use alot of space on your hard drive.
When loading a pictuer, you also have many functions, ranging from resolution, colour quality, lighting, and inlaging or decreasing the picture size.
The scanner is slightly larger than the average flat bed scanner, but it is very user friendly, and has 4 short cut buttons on the front of it, which will scann the pic, and send it straight to, e-mail, fax or printer without it needing to save the scaned document on the hard drive.
The only downfall is that you can easily tap the buttons, and it will start to scan when you dont want it too as they are quite sensitive, so you will need to watch out if oyu are interested in this for home use.
The scanner is very easy to set up and connect to your PC, with very easy to follow instructions, and i comes with a USB lead and a Parallel lead, so that what ever PC or Mac you have, you can easily link it up without needing to pay for extra leads.
This scanner is Mac compatable to, but only having a PC, im not to sure how well it goes with the mac, but i beleave it is also very easy and user friendly to link up.
This is an over all great scanner, and worth the money. I comes in a light gray so it goes will with most suroundings, all you ned to look out for is the size of it.

Great Op, we've got one of the HP 5370's too and it's been working great for us for some 18 months, we also got the slide scanner add-on free with ours which is a great piece of kit.

I have the scanjet 5p, it has been to the moon and back and not once let me down....Robin
Advantages: Easy to set up and use for photocopying, picture digitalisation and OCR Disadvantages: I’m bordering on obese and still can’t work out how to use the fax facility.
