Speed is not the greatest asset of this drive compared to the latest and greatest drives as you are also at the mercy of the SCSI and data transfer speed. They do take their time to back up but you can also rest assured that they will get the job done! What is its compatibility like with 3rd Party software Andy? Again, faultless. While HP do their own flavours of backup software, we use a product by Symantec called Backup exec. We originally had version 8.0 and are now running Version 10.0 The upgrade caused no issues with compatibility and the drives worked equally as well with both versions. Advantages: Powereful budget PC

...’m prepared to lash out some cash for software it has plenty of options for upgrade including built in TV tuner, with the ability to record live TV etc, and as I mentioned earlier editing hardware but no software (unless its hidden somewhere). The PC itself comes in such a state that you don’t have to run out and buy additional programs if your not ready to purchase Office, Microsoft Works is included as standard. And if you don’t have an internet service provider lots of options come pre-installed so know need to go on a hunt down for internet supplier discs. For a semi-budget PC this unit really packs a punch in respect of its operations. Far more than some higher price tagged versions I have used of late for work etc. This is without a doubt my best purchase of the year...... So far! Pricing up:- Amazon and HP website prices... ....95. -- Installing the Printer, and the Cartridge Simple and easy. Just put the printer in its place on the desk or something. Plug-in the power cable, and check that your printer is working, and then connect the IEEE-1284 cable. If you have Microsoft Windows XP or 2k, it’s no problem cuz they know this printer and you can start printing instantly. However you can refer to the “Software and Drivers” section to know more about its installation and stuff. The cartridge installation is as simple as the printer was. Anyhow, the tricky part is that you have to remove the tape in the cartridge before installing it for somewhat reason I don’t know. You can also refer to your user’s manual page 1-2 to know how to install it in more details.
