...I have had my cdwriter now for a while and payed £123 for it, so far it has given me no problems at all. It is a 4 speed writer, 4 speed rewrite and 24 speed read which makes it affordable and have good speeds. It came with Adaptec software and 2 other free CD`s with a labeling program on and the other with a music creator on, I also recived 2 blank cd`s which were a HP CDR and a HP CDRW from which have both come in handy.I have found that the CDWriter is a cheap and fast way to back up your computer....

...HPCDWRITER IS A DAM FINE BUY FOR THE PRICE AT 130 BUCKS YOU CAN SEE IT IS BUILT TO LAST AND IT COPIES CDS GREAT IT WILL COPY 80 MINS CDS EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS IT COPIES UP TO 74 MINS, THE ONLY THING IS WHEN YOUR MIXING DIFFERENT CD THE COMPUTER WILL ONLY LET YOU COPY UP TO 74 MINS AS THIS IS WHAT IS SET AS DEFAULT I AM YET TO FIND A WAY AROUND THIS PROBLEM BUT IT IS NOT A BIG PROBLEM! WHEN YOURE COPING DANCE CDS THAT HAVE NO GAPS BETWEEN THE TRACKS MOST WRITERS WILL PUT A TWO SECOND GAP BETWEEN THEM BUT WITH THE HP IT COPIES WITH NO GAPS GREAT STUFF!...

Advantages: USB compatable Disadvantages: Slower than internal CD recorders
...I purchased this external USB CD Re-Writer because I had no free bays in my machine. I have found the HP drive to be a doddle to install, and absolute simplicity to use. Although dearer than an internal drive (£190), I say its well worth the money.
HP state that they do not support 80 minute CD's. I have used 80 Min CD's in this machine and it records without a problem.
It come with Easy Cd creator and Direct CD which are both easy to use. You insert a blank CD into the drive and a menu automatically pops up to guide you through the recording stage. Or you can access the recording software from the start menu and bypass the wizard.
