I bought this Ipaq 1940 a week ago and I am terribly pleased with it. If you have lots to keep up and use MS Outlook a great deal normally, this is an ideal little gadget for you. It's not as big as 5000 series, so I think more feminine but you don't get the security features like finger print recognition and encryption. I am not going to say simple because it's not, it's integrated with bluetooth which means you can connect wireless with other bluetooth devices. My partner has an Ericson T68I (which has bluetooth) and we exchanged all the contacts sitting on the sofa in couple of minutes. I use the USB cable to syncronise with my computer since this is faster. Cradle can be purchased seperately, it's more convinient of course with a cradle. I can't seem to find a nice case for it mainly because all the cases makes the handheld much bigger. If anybody finds a nice slim case for this, only to protect please let me know.
A bit of details from hp-compact:

"Small enough to fit in almost any pocket or purse; Built-in industry standard SD expansion slot provide flexibility and convenience in storage; One of the thinnest and smallest handhelds in the market; latest Intel processor (266 MHz) using X-scale technology HP quality and worldwide support."
fair enough

"Clear and dazzling transflective colour display"

Very impressive, "89 mm, display type :Transflective type TFT colour with LED backlight"

"Removable battery provides capability for extended use while away from a power source"

Might be useful on the go, battery life is told to be 8 hours, didn't use it up yet.

"SD memory card slot for transferring and storing music, pictures and more"

"Stay productive with Pocket versions of familiar applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel"
These are very handy also now it comes with 5 points voucher that you can redeem from ipaqchoice.com for extra applications. I couldn't find exactly what I want, bought one zip application for 1 point and still looking at the others. There are lots of applications that may appeal to anyone really. You can also find thousands of applications of all sorts at handango.com website (microsoft). Many of them free or offer a free trial.

"Easily print your documents, e-mail attachments and pictures directly from your HP iPAQ Pocket PC to an HP printer via Bluetooth connectivity"

Haven't tried simply because don't have a bluetooth printer.

"Listen to your favorite MP3 or WMA music files; Watch Windows Media videos and play games at your convenience"

well, that needs a lot of space on your memory but you can use it as MP3 player with a SD card.

If you are thinking between 1910 and this one, I'd say go for this one, I did. I has a better/faster processor and bluetooth. It gives everything you can expect from a handheld PC including wireless networking. Unless you are using processor intensive applications, 266 MHz is pretty good. It's middle range in terms of price, £100 more expensive than H1910 but £100-£150 less than bigger brothers.

I can also strongly advice Avantgo application which you can download websites on your handheld and look at them in your leisure time at the park.

Update after 1 month:
I'm terribly pleased with ipaq 1940, using it daily. I'm reading newspapers at lunch time or on the way to work, writing e-mails to send later (you can send them there and then if you have a bluetooth enabled phone, i didn't have so much hurry to send an e-mail yet), organising my appointments, keeping contacts, playing little games, listening music, and many more. I am keeping a track of every little thing I need to do, essential for me cause I'm terrible in organising myself. To cut the story short, if you need a PDA but not craving for the most techie and fast that is for you.

This was very helpful as I am in the process of looking for a pocket PC for my son and this review has made me realise how useful it would be for him at college.

Thanks for the review and the update. It has helped me to decide to go for this one rather than a Palm Tungsten E

The nicest cases I've found are by Krusell (www.krusell.se). They're close fitting and very good quality.
