The HP iPAQ h1940 is a very powerful Pocket PC; the h1940 is smaller than other iPAQ models which makes it more portable than ever. The official dimensions are 2.75 in x 4.46 in x 0.5 in (113.3 mm x 69.8 mm x 12.8 mm), weight 4.38 oz (124 g) (including battery). The infrared port is located on the left side along with the built-in microphone. The bottom side hosts a system connector, and the right-hand side a slider which releases the battery cover.
The top of the PDA has a stylus shaft, miniature stereo headphones jack and an SD slot with a dummy card. The SDIO slot is used to add an array of accessories to your PDA, to be able to have a wireless internet connection anywhere you go. It has a slim and compact body which saves me some space in my backpack. At the display panel, you can see a 3-colour LED over the display, indicating charging and Bluetooth activation and notifying of various events. Below the display, there is a round joypad with an extra button in the middle. There is a pair of configurable buttons on each side of the joypad, by default set to show Calendar, Contacts, Inbox and the today screen. The HP iPAQ h1940 has a very nice TFT display with led backlight, provides high brightness and resolution. The backlight intensity can be adjusted in five steps; this model does not have an automatic backlight adjustment. The Screen applet makes it possible to switch system support for Clear Type, which I found to be very convenient because I do not need to tweak the system’s registry anymore. The display is readable very well in all possible light conditions. Aside from having a very nice display, this PDA has an excellent sound features too. You can adjust the treble and bass in 4 levels each and optionally use the super bass feature.
The HP iPAQ h1940 also has a Bluetooth capability that can transfer files and digital business cards, access your corporate network or the internet, print, work with a phone directory, and send SMS messages. It also contains a wide variety of software which includes: Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Internet Explorer, Notes, Tasks, Windows Media Player, Calculator, Explorer, MSN Messenger, Excel, Word and Pocket MSN. There 2 bonus applications the iPAQ Image Viewer and the iPAQ Backup.
The iPAQ H1940 has new operating system called Windows Mobile 2003, It is fast considering that this PDA has Intel Processor with clock speed 266 MHz., some says that it doesn’t make a difference with 400 MHz models, but for me it’s fast enough the videos that I watch, are smooth and clear.
Overall, the iPAQ H1940 has a full of good features having a fast processor, Bluetooth, larger memory and a brilliant operating system. You could never go wrong with this device.
