iPaking with a Punch ================
I have had my iPak for about 2 years. At first I had difficulty switching over from using a written filofax to the iPaq. The beauty is that the calendar diary on this is absolutely fantastic, it remembers, and it lets you know when you need to do something.
My biggest difficulty and I suppose a bug bare I have with it is that it's hard to get programs for the iPaq. I have in effect what came with it along with a few I have bought from the HP site.

I have it connected through my wifi and its superb little browser, both at home outside when I want to check email. Make sure if you use the client that you use an imap so that it does not remove the original email from the server so that you can download it to your main computer.
My girlfriend went for the Palm, ands its good but it was HP for me due to the backup of HP and most importantly the WiFi capability and MS suite of software that came with it. You get Ms Word and Ms Excel, so you can read your docs on the run and also produce material which you can use on your desktop or note book later on. I bought it in my local PC World, in Sprucefield. They were inexperienced and not really able to help me out with my purchase, lucky its not them being reviewed. Make sure you do your research and know in advanced if its this model or one of the others you need. The product is more specialised and the retail staff in a lot of the stores frankly are not up to speed enough with what they are selling you.
I could not get it to Bluetooth with my Motorola Razor though and have never been able to work out why, as it should have been able to.

Overall ======= The Ipaq is the expensive option in the PDA market, but it is the backed by an industry giant and it works so very well. Have no hesitation in recommending this to everyone.
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Speaker isn't loud (Not that it matters)
...PDA is its screen - HP took great care of this and has included a flip screen protector on (Which can be removed, though it doesn't annoy me at all) It also has a great screen resolution - especially for movies.
Secondly is the battery life - I could play music (using the freeware TCPMP, full volume, equaliser and used mp3's from a SD Card) for around 10 hours plus - note if you turn off the screen, use the device memory etc it will give a lot more ... ...its connectivity. I had a hp ipaq h2210 (and loved that too) and that was great. HP have fixed the error of connecting to the nokia 6230i, and have added wi-fi to it as well. One feature i didn't find was the remote control. Not that i am bothered, i can find one easily enough, and to be honest, i never use it anyway, just a cool feature to say "haha i have a remote control on my pda!" It does have Infra-Red and USB - So its covered all connectivity ...

Advantages: Powerful, Full of Features, Mobile, persistant storage, good communicator Disadvantages: Standard Battery not the best around, has a technical problem (resolvable)
...After some assistance from HP we discovered that I had a faulty power supply at home and after reconciling that, was able to charge the ipaq. "So why did it go flat?" I hear you think. Well, the problem is a known one and is easily resolveable with a simple download from HP.
When the unit is switched on it works fine, add an SD card and that's where the problems begin. You will find the battery starting to drain, quickly. Even with life still in ... ...downloaded a flash upgrade from HP and installed it. Since then the unit has performed as it should have, and what a piece of technology it is. I have been able to:
- Save ALL of my contacts and calendar entries with the ability to back them up whenever i'm at home (via cable or wifi connection to activesync)
- Write documents
- Do monthly budgets in excel
- Play games
- Surf the net via wifi
- Bluetooth communications with my mobile phone

Advantages: Sturdy, good software, smooth link with Pc, fast, all features needed for a pocket Pc Disadvantages: Alarm problems
...decided to come across to Hp because of the ease with which word and excel documents will transfer onto it. The weight of it makes it feel like a quality product, and it was also good to have all the buttons where you can see them straight away without having to flip down the bottom like I did with the palm.
Because I use my Ipaq in a busy retail environment I immediately bought a metal case for it. I also added an SD card to add to the memory.
... ...again. I don't know why Hp didn't include a vibrate function like with my Palm and on any phone. This would have made reminders a lot more useful.
Overall I was and still am very impressed with the HX2490. I know most of the review has been a moan, but just look through the feature list to see what is included. All of the features work superbly, and do exactly what they say. Even in the bashing I give this device every day it has stood up very well, ...

Advantages: Large screen; excellent battery life; easy to use wifi and bluetooth Disadvantages: Bulky/heavy in pocket, not all apps work with Windows Mobile 5 yet
I bought this model because I wanted wifi for internet/email access on the go, and bluetooth to link to my mobile phone. The HX2490 has both and they are ridiculously easy to set up. The wifi connection takes a few taps of the stylus and bluetooth is even easier to turn on and off. Importantly the iPAQ clearly lets you know when either or both are on and it's easy and quick to turn them off again.
Once I started exploring the device I was amazed ... ...Palm based PDA. The Media Player in particular is great on long flights (I put some movies on an SD Card) and the audio and video quality is much better than I expected, and there is also a reasonable range of games.
As well as the SD card slot there is also a Compact Flash slot for adding a GPS receiver or other accessories and, of course, a 3.5mm headphone socket
This iPAQ comes complete with Office Mobile and the versions of Word and Excel are ...

Advantages: Lots of features and wi-fi/bluetooth Disadvantages: A little expensive and bad battery life
I bought my PDA from ebay, for a discount price; I didn't want to pay a lot of money for a PDA and I wanted a really good one. The hx2490 comes with Windows mobile 5.0 which is the newer version of the windows CE operating system. The processor is slightly faster than it's predecessors and has wifi and bluetooth aswell. This means that you can quickly use any wireless station and hook into that network, or transfer documents to your phone or computer ... ...protective cover as well as many other cool gadgets like the docking station. I use my PDA every day and have had no problems with it, of course I have dropped it many times like I do many things and it still manages to work. I think I would replace it if I did damage it but I don't think I would pay the full price for one. Unfortunately the battery is very bad. My PDA is always not turning on due to having no battery power. This seems to be an issue ...

Advantages: Has a huge amount of features for the money Disadvantages: Audio playback volume, Apple files unsupported
CF flash cards side by side, heaps of room to transfer all your piccies onto pda cards when camera card gets full, picture viewer good, screen reproduces excellent colour and crispness. Synchs with my pc no probs - outlook and files and folders if necessary. Synchs with my bluetooth phone for modem to web where no wi-fi. Many advantages to owning one, can only think of 4 minor disadvantages: 1: music player not loud enough in head phones, but that's what iPods are for anyway. 2. Windows media player does not play Apple AAC files but there are plenty of mp3's out there. 3. Windows operating system does not play quicktime movies off Nikon and maybe other digital cameras. The handbook which comes in the box is pretty light on facts. But there are 3 full on how to manuals available at the manufacturers website which cover almost everything ...
