It features IrDA so if you have PC or Laptop which features IR, which a lot of laptops do, then transferring files suddenly becomes a lot easier. Unfortunatly, being so small, it lacks intergrated bluetooth and Wi-fi but the SDIO slot enables extended capabilities such as LAN cards, Bluetooth cards and GPS solutions, meaning this device can be compatible with all types of wireless communications. Another handy thing about the SDIO expansion slot is it can be used to attach a 1.3 megapixel camera to the PDA, making it another thing the HP iPAQ can do.

The Lithium Ion battery provides up to 7 hours of run time before recharging is needed so getting through an average day is not a problem provided its not on the whole time. It has a Samsung S3C2410 203 MHz processor with 32mb of RAM which is enough power to ensure applications such as Microsoft Pocket Word, Excel and Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer run without hitch.
So why would I want to buy one you say. Well things have never been easier. Imagine having your PC in your pocket and you get the idea. I can access the internet, write documents, watch videos, listen to music, take pictures of the scenery and most importantly, keep organised on the move. Forget diarys, do they tell you when you should be somewhere? No, but the HP iPAQ does. This device will keep your organised for years to come, and if you think thats not good enough, wait until you see the price.

Advantages: Functional PDA with benefits of GPS Disadvantages: Low memory
I purchased the HP rz1710 because I wanted to have the functionality of PDA and the benefits of a GPS system.
The product comes in two parts basically you get the rz1710 PDA and a stand alone GPS receiver that you can either stick to the window of your car or the dashboard. An adhesive plate is provided if you wish to mount the unit on your dashboard.
The GPS software provided is Via Michelin. The software has been put on an SD card that self installs ... ...By simply inserting the PDA into the GPS receiver the software recognises the hardware and loads the GPS software ready for navigating. From a standstill I found the GPS receiver locked onto a signal in under a minute, while moving the acquisition was slightly longer. The GPS software is quite good; the interface was very easy to use while driving, the big icons on the screen enable you to control the GPS without having to loose too much focus while ...

...utility for editing images called HP Image Zone. It also has a SDIO/MMC slot that could hold up to 1GB of external storage cards.
Technically it is not the fastest and most advanced handheld available in the market.
Below is some of it tech. spec.
Processor: 203MHz, RAM: 32Mb (out of which 15MB available SDRAM, 10MB flash), Dimensions: 114 x 70 x 13mm, Wire connectivity: 22 pin serial cable, provided with USB and charger cable, it has a 3.5-inch ... ...pix.
As you can see, main drawback with this handset is its processor speed and the RAM. With such low specification, it is quite inadequate for high applications to run comfortable on it. Another drawback is it does not come with any wireless connectivity. It has got doable MP3 player but what drags its down is its very short battery life and they estimate it to be about roughly 3hours 30 mins once fully charged and to add to the misery the battery ...

...price, and it is from HP with an IPAQ badge so what the heck.
When I switch it on, I found a high quality display, with pocket pc 2003 installed, which is fully compatible with my desktop. Once I had sync'd with outlook, downloaded all my business and personal contacts, my calender and a couple of family photos the 32Mb was getting rarther full, so I went out and bought 128Mb SD card which took care of that problem. I have called up Hp who were equally as useless telling me when it freezes to just reset it. I have also found that it claims to take you on the shortest route but have managed to find short cuts myself. Doesn't pick up alot of roads.
