I now have a diary that reminds me of events with a tone and will even vocalise the event text; albeit in a too quiet voice; My contact list is unlimited and I can search it with a keyword (e.g. electrician); a video camera that I will carry all the time. USB sync with PC quick and easy. I won't lose my contacts and files when the phone is lost or dies. Wana make your kids jealous? let them see the camera preview over the full screen...cool My wallet is no longer overflowing with taty bits of paper reminding me of the contact details of people I have to meet and when. I've kept the transparent flip screen covering the screen, it prevents the phone from being inadvertently activated when its in your pocket. I can connect to the internet from any location if I must, and many sites have a mobile version suitable for small screens and low data rates.
I Dislike
The ringtone on the device is far too quiet and I sometimes can't hear it ringing (i.e. speakers need upgrading) No numeric keypad.....Arrrrrghh I don't want a full qwerty input but a phone without numbers is a pain. For example, you've just shaved in cold water cos the heating is broke, you Phone customer services during the drive to work (hands-free of course), the machine says "press # now"...OK you've activated the touch screen, turned up the backlight.....u've just crashed. One handed texting on the move? dangerous with the best phones, scuicidal with the iPAQ. ! One other bug I've found is that it seems to be impossible to send a contact to another phone using messaging (SMS), the iPAQ seems to only want to send it by MMS as a jazzy business card type thing. The camera is nothing great, a similar spec phone on a Nokia will produce better results.
This device has just been superceeded by the iPAQ 614c, this has windows mobile 6, intergrated GPS and a numeric keypad.
Advantages: speed, usage, flip screen, bluetooth, good battery life Disadvantages: missing keypad, bit stocky in size
I think HP's RW6815 feels more like a basic smartphone with its silver plastic finish. My only worry with the colour is any marks and scratches will not stand out that much as they would if it was black in colour. Below are my views/experiences with this gadget.
Speed:
I this its pitty fast. In technical jargon, 416MHz processor that means Windows Mobile 5 speeds along, and whatever task we were performing we couldn't complain about the iPAQ's ... ...flip-flop cover that protects the screen from scratches.
Battery/size
I think handset is quite thick (I think about 19mm it said on the packing). It reckon it has a decent size battery which makes it look big but believe me it does not really feel that heavy in your hand and pocket. Now to carry on with the battery I read the HP's claims that once fully charged it would have a talk time of 51/2 hours and standby of ten days, which I think, is quite ...

Advantages: light, powerful and fast Disadvantages: camera not great in low light and a new OS hiccups.
After much deliberation I made a decision to go with this device. This is day 3 with it and I love it already! I have been able to connect to my own wireless network at home with it and a few out and about as well. Got outlook set up with my yahoo pop account, got it working easily with sync now and got some MP3s on there. Also bought the music docking station (id 138432) to go with it and although it''s not very loud, it is tiny and light and very ... ...at Expansys. Got this phone with a 12 month contract with Orange for £65.49 (again Expansis). Could not find many reviews for this phone as I think it''s very new so I am trying to get this up here quickly. Have had one of two times where I needed to reset the phone because of O/S issues. e.g. some things missing from the screen or frozen graphics animation but nothing that upset me. Seems worth it for how fast and powerful it is :) It is a little ...

Quick review of HP iPAQ Rw6815 Personal Messenger
Absolutely delighted with it - used every day for 18 months until very recently when the battery no longer holds enough charge (0.5 days life per charge). Windows Mobile good but crashes occasionally - same with any phone running WM5 I guess.
Screen is very bright and the touchscreen very responsive - much more so than some more recent touchscreen phones I have used e.g. Omnia. I especially like the handy stowage of the stylus - other manufacturers have still to perfect this.
The plastic flip screen cover is a nice idea in my view, but you can easily unclip it if it becomes annoying when making calls.
The downside is that when making calls you are talking into a metal chunk not particularly well moulded to you as a phone. Basically this is designed as a PDA first, a phone second. ...

Advantages: easy to use, detailed graphics, easly hand held Disadvantages: occasionaly did not register buttons, needed pressing twice
...i bought mine of the HP website costing only £310. norma prices varying higher.
as with the complexity of the product compared to standard phones, it would typicaly suit aldult users rather than for children as they would not be able to make full use of the types of tools it provides. i was very impressed with the wireless technology, at very high speed, ment i could send emails anytime anyplace. good luck with your search for the perfect device. ...

Advantages: screen size, feature-packed, reliable, good battery Disadvantages: a bit chunky, no keyboard
Amazingly useful most of the time! It\'s very reliable.
Pros: LOADS of features: Internet explorer, games, media player, loads of them! Reliable, good battery life and fantastic for managing a busy life on the move.
Cons: Recently started reset, handsfree isn't so clear but that might just be a faulty unit. A bit on the chunky side and there's no keyboard so you have to constantly use the stylus which can be a bit much when I carry a lot on me.
