After shopping around, I chose HSBC as the bank for my student account. This was because they do one of the best packages for students that I have seen. They offer you the choice of either a four year rail card (saves you a third on all train travel) for free, or fifty pounds cash paid into your account. They also promise straightforward advice from people used to dealing with students at your local branch when you are away at university or college and a £750 iterest free overdraft, very useful!If you are a student and the reality of student poverty has sunk in yet you'll see what a help this is. I'd also reccommend HSBC because everytime I have had dealings with them, they have offered friendly and helpful andvice and are always happy to help, unlike other some other banks which have no time for their customers.
