A large fund investing in high yield securities

Advantages: The fund tends to outperform in flat and falling markets, high dividend yield of around 3%, good long term performance and good manager
Disadvantages: Large £2.6 billion in size makes fund less flexible, 5% initial charge, underperforms when growth stocks are fashionable

a 52% return on my initial investment. The fund has recently undergone a period of outperformance against the UK stockmarket in a particularly difficult time returning 16% over the last year against a 3% loss on the FTSE All share index (according to statistics from Standard & Poor's Micropal). I definitely view the fund as a core holding in my portfolio. The fund has also produced total returns (with dividends re-invested) in excess of the FTSE All-Share over periods of 5,7 & 10 years. The volatility of the INVESCO-Perpetual High Income fund (which is the standard deviation of the unit price over 36 months) is 4.7, this compares with a volatility of 4.1 for the FTSE All-Share Index and the UK Equity Income sector average of 4.2. HSBC

Advantages: Competitive, wide range, professional.
Disadvantages: Not a seamless service. Lack of branches.

interest for that month - its pain on the neck but do help me save). My ISA has a preferential rate of 5.50AER due to my holding the Plus Account, and I have the Regular Saver which boasted an 8% interest rate, but they have now informed me that it has gone up to 10% due to the new feature added to the Plus account!! Nationwide bank even has an advert for "banks letting you down with regular savings" - HSBC isn't one of them! Credit Card We love them but can't live without them! My Credit Card with HSBC has had a few problems in it's time, but nothing that wasn't sorted out promptly. I had a fraudulent transaction on the card, and HSBC had it resolved within 3 weeks - which I believe to be a timely fashion. Knowing my consumer rights I called them and immediately they sent me a Declaration form, to dispute the transaction. The amount was ...

HSBC- The best place to bank!

Advantages: Great choice of accounts, helpful friendly staff
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind

have an online bonus saver and a flexi saver, both of which are really easy to manage. I get a better rate of interest on the online saver and a bonus each month if I do not withdraw any money that month. The online saver can only be managed online, whereas the flexi saver can be managed in the branch or at home online. The ISA's are also really good too, you can access you funds at any time without redemption and the interest is calculated daily so if you do make a withdrawal you do not say lose a whole months interest- this is something I am looking into at the moment. What I really like about the accounts is that if i transfer between my bank accounts and saving accounts it is instant so I am either able to access my cash straight away or be saving instantly. There are a range of other savings accounts. I chose the above because ...
