I have been a HSBC account holder for almost seven years now, wow! Having recently heard in the news that they have launched their online banking, I decided to visit their website and have a look at what they have.
And was I impressed!!! I did a fast registration using my account details and a security code which has been set up for their telephone banking service (even though I did previously have to get my code changed back from the letter version to the numerical one that most of the banks have adopted). I was immediately given an Internet Banking number, which could be used right away. I tried printing this out, had difficulty doing so, and at their suggestion, used 'Ctrl-P' and presto, it was printed! Now, I know how I can print my Smile statement when the 'Print' command on the page fails- HSBC more attentive than Smile?
Anyway, I tried logging in immediately and it worked. There they were, my current, savings and credit card accounts all on one page. You can see the balance and transactions, as well as amend your Standing Orders and Direct Debits which are all listed. I like the part where you can cease a direct debit either immediately or in a future date (Especially useful for those of you nearing the end of your mobile contract). For Standing Orders you can only change the amount and not the date or payment.
I must say that this must be the best step HSBC has taken. Banking will be much more convenient now - Well Done and Thank You!
