I have been using this now for 3 years and have had my bank account for 16 years in Huddersfield - I live 100 miles away from branch that I opened the account with. I normally use telebanking or the internet service and rarely need to visit a branch on the high street.
The internet service links you into your current accounts, credit cards, savings accounts and other services offered by HSBC. I have only used the current and credit card accounts but have browsed through the home insurance link (filled out a quote but this was too expensive and then received a follow up call to see if I would take the quote - which I did not!
Current Account Day - to Day access
Excellent - A lot quicker than telebanking. Very simple to log onto the website - I've said the log in screen to my favourites. Very secure - also helped by updating my virus software on my pc and not being on a networked pc. I have managed my current bank account, on-line bill payment, balance transfers. Confirmation ensure that you have correctly entered something and you have the option to cancel before you send a transaction.
Drop down menus are very clear and easy to use. You can easily access your other HSBC accounts. 24 hour banking!!! No need to visit busy town centres, queues, cost of parking. The only time I visit the high street bank is if I need to pay cash in to clear on the same day which you cannot do on the internet as it takes 3 - 10 days to transfer money.
I would definately recommend this service.
The E-mail queries are a bit slow - it is better to ring directly.

Advantages: Very easy to use internet banking. Good deals for students with £1000 free overdraft. Disadvantages: Since they have changed logon for internet banking it takes slightly longer
